I've always wondered about the whole Minicon thing, I mean how would they know if the Minicon is immediate family or not. You could put what you want on the Reg form...would they ask for verification when you picked up your package?

Yes, your wife gets your member discount (done it myself last year).

Nope. I think they just do the "honor system", and probably check last names.

I'm a member of the club, and my wife always gets her Primus package at the same price.

I'm reading that FAQ update as saying that Minicons must be immediate family.

That would be new and really silly.

Am I reading it wrong? o_O  Does it just mean that Primus/Minicon packages are for club members only, and is simply worded confusingly?

If it does mean a change to Minicon package rules, I foresee a lot of people suddenly becoming siblings for a weekend. :lol

Officially, at least, it's always been like that. Not new at all. Silly? Well....

I have little doubt that you're correct.

They only have to be immediate family to get the discount benefit from your membership, assuming they aren't a member. A random friend could still be the minicon they'd just have to pay more.

    From the brochure
I won't swear to it (it would take more time than I have at the moment to verify), but I'm pretty sure that's the same language as in previous years.

While that doesn't explicitly forbid non-family members, the intention is clear enough. I don't think that you are correct in suggesting that non-family members are allowed to get Mini-Con packages (even with "paying more").

I've signed up my girlfriend before as a minicon with no problem, guess that falls under "family member" for FP.

I take it they didn't make her pay the extra $10 or so (difference between member and non-member Mini-Con price).

Consistent with "she counts as family, or FP isn't really looking all that hard."

But it doesn't indicate that this year is different in any way. Quite the opposite, in fact.

Yes, since I was paying for both packages I got member pricing on both.
