It's Wednesday and Botcon is officially under way for those of you in the customizing classes. So for those who have arrived safely in Cincinnati or are on the way, what are your tales of travel woes?

As for me, I was slated to take a flight on United into D.C. where I would meet up with my GF KSA and we'd fly together to Columbus. Well that hasn't gone as planned. As I sit here now Im waiting for my flight into NY on US Airways. My United flight was scheduled to leave at 6am, we're all sitting on the plane and the captian comes on to tell us that they need to reboot the plane to see if they can fix a problem with a hydraulic pump... it didn't. So they kick us off the plane while they fix the problem. Since Im going to miss my connecting flight in DC, United booked me on US Airways into Columbus via Laguardia. So here I sit waiting for my flight to take off. To top it all off I had to go back through security after getting my new boarding passes (there was a LONG line at the gate and the folks at the check-in booth were twiddling their fingers). When I arrive at the security line, there was no one in front of me, which one would hope meant that I'd skate right through. You guessed it, I was chosen "at random" to be patted down and to have my bags given some extra searching. Now I don't mind the extra security and I reveled in the comedy of it all. Given the way my morning was going, being patted down, etc was predictable.

So who else is having travel woes trying to get to Botcon?

That's pretty crappy. Hopefully you'll still arrive in time for all the awesomeness.

That was me last year, trying to get to Botcon. Nearly 24 hours in North Carolina and I missed the screening of the movie. I did make it about 4 hours before the Hasbro tour. I hope you can get there. I know how much it sucks.

I am sorry to hear about your problems. I got here with no problems, except at check in. Thank goodness I saved Sol Fury's PM with the room conformation number. BTW I smuggled a bottle of gin up to the room.

    I MADE IT!!!

Once I got on US Airways, it was clear sailing into Columbus where KSA was waiting for me with the rental car. It wasn't bad, it took us about an hour 45 minutes to get into Cincy.

We're in the Ramada and going to Hooters for dinner!!!

Dang, my "woes" are nothin' compared to some of yours. Only thing I can complain about was I had a migraine all the way from Williamsburg, Kentucky all the way here. Quite difficult, I noticed, to find a clean public bathroom between the state line and here too.

My wife drove all the way here too, so most of you married guys can sympathize! :cry

Freyabeads and myself took about 10 hours (including Walmart stops) to get to the Botcon. It was really smooth sailing once we learned to trust the new Tom Tom. Freya had taken a fit within the first 20 minutes because the Tom Tom took us close to D.C. during rush hour. Well, we had told it to give us the fastest route. :lol

I'm leaving in about an hour to drive down (only a five hour drive for me), so hopefully I'll have nothing to report later!

This will be my first BotCon. What's interesting is the fact that I'm not even going for the Con itself, but to meet some folks from here...should be a good time.

Sorry to hear/read about the drama though.

*looks up the trip on Google Maps*

I probably would've murdered someone halfway thru Pennsylvania. We only had a 6 hour trip but we had some nice scenery. We travelled thru Pennsylvania once and swore we'd never go thru that great expanse of pure nothing again.

I bow before your impeccable patience.
