Yeah, I'm actually really surprised too. I bet it's because the people who are buying them are thinking they'll be able to resell them and that they'll go just as fast as last year's set. And that the demand for this year's set will drive up the prices to the insane levels they've gotten to with last year's. I really don't think that's gonna be the case, though.

The freebie and convention only 2-packs, MAYBE..but the normal set? No way.

Spending sixty dollars per figure when you haven't even seen four of them yet requires impressive faith in FP.

I like the convention exclusives, but I can't think of any toy I'd do that for.

I feel the same way. I wish that we all had a chance to see at least a picture of the toys before we have to lay down so much money for them.

Now the question is, what is the # of these sets made for this year compared to last year? If they are the same, then it is impressive but if they only made 1/2 the amount, no so impressive.

Didn't they say at one point they made a lot more of last year's set (compared to previous years') due to the fan demand for the characters in the set.

Wow. That was fast, especially considering how "on the fence" a lot of people have been about this set. o_O

Christ that was fast. Did not expect this much of a response to the set. *shrug* if it wasn't so expensive to get a non-attending set (pretty much the same price as getting one of the convention packages..without going? Ripoff) I'd probably grab one.

Is the Iacon package still available? Since they have it on their site that the boxed convention sets are limited.

That is shocking that they went so fast.

I was the same way last year. I didn't order a set until I saw all of the previews. That was my plan for this year too. I guess there will be no extra set if I do end up ordering them. Ah well.

Bring on the rest of the previews already!!!

You're right, those scam artists. They should just leave the convention exclusives to be sold exclusively at the convention, and not even offer a non-attending set! Those jerks!

I'm a little surprised at the sellout speed myself, though I'd assume there's no "extra run for high demand" like the 07 set. I think we're getting to the point where a lot of people are sending in their reg right away/sight unseen to make sure they don't risk getting left behind, safe in the belief that if they don't like it, they can unload it for equal or greater value.

(I keep thinking about selling some of my own BC exclusives, but I never actually do it.)

I am still kicking myself for passing 07 Botcon boxset. Now I'll never be able to get Classics Thrust and Dirge without paying a King's ransom. :mad

I'm guess that's the case. I think the Darksyde Megatron demand, as well as the remaining seekers, really lit a fire under people last year, and after seeing last year's et go so fast, more people are jumping in right away hoping for the same result/demand for the toys as last year.

Well, the 2008 brochure reports that 200 loose sets were available. I don't remember the number of loose sets from 2007, but I'm pretty sure that ultimately, it was at least double that, if not more.

I'm really curious about how many boxed sets were produced this year. Hopefully they will sell out too. It's good news that the exclusives are getting snatched up. While I'm not a huge fan of the theme this year, I want FP to succeed and I hope others will enjoy the toys. And who knows, maybe once I actually see the figures and hold them in my hand, they'll grow on me too. :)

It's interesting, given that the 08 theme seems pretty lame compared to the 06 theme. The 07 set didn't really even need a theme, everybody loved the classics so much any repaints of them were an instant sell. Especially with completing the seeker set.
