As for myself, with this beeing my 1st Botcon. I HAD A BLAST. over all I would rate the con a 9 out of 10.

    The Good:
1: Meet a ton of people that I have talk to over the last 2 years for the 1st time.
2: Was able to see the 20th Anniversary. On some what a big screen
3: Got a great haul on items, and was able to complete my Gen 1 Action
trading card set with ALL 54 VARIANTS cards. Just to name 1 thing.
4: Glad to hear that SOOO many people love my truck. ( It was the Green
Chevy Silverado with the Big Red AUTOBOT LOGO on the side windows
    of the cab

    The BAD
1: The elevator were slower then beening behind Grandmom drivering to churh
    on Sunday!
2: My Toilets ran all most the whole time I was there. Had to put a trouble call
about 5 time and they the A#$hole Maintence guy say that if I put any
trouble in that he was not going to come up and fix it.
3: About half of the hotel employees were the rudest In the hotel business
    that I have every meet
4: Need to have more food for the dinner party. I was not able to eat cause
people were getting stacks of ham and beef form the carving station. They
SHould of made it 1 carving of each until the whole line got thought.
5: Need to schedule Dealer registration for earlyier in the day. As Brain was
Checking the dealers in, He keep getting pull away to asnwer question from
other staff member for Primus holders.

Know I know that 3 out of my 4 are more toward the Hyatt then to FP, and Brain

1st Botcon for me too, it was a great time.
My wife and I stayed at the Radisson and walked over to the Hyatt every day.

    The Good:
    1. Met a bunch of people from the boards, they were all friendly and cool.
    2. Met Peter Cullen.
    3. Got a ton of stuff.
    4. Saw the TF Movie on the big screen.

    The Bad:
    1. I agree the way the food was served at the dinner was bad. I think I'd prefer a sit down dinner to a line buffet with 400 people.
    2. Spent too much money?

I like buffet versus sit-down dinner, just because sit-down dinner at hotel are limited choice (due to number of people) and very brisk...buffet lets me eat what I want and as much of it as I want, when I want to. But yeah, a better set up (not in the middle of the hall, and maybe not as linear so everyone is in line at the same time) would be worthwhile.

    My goods were:
    1) The whole convention, really. My first time, and it was a blast. Panels were interesting, exclusive were excellent, contest entries were neat to look at (I know everyone saw that Devastator!) everything was fairly well run.
    2) Gaming night was good for my wife, who had a chance to really enjoy herself on a weekend that she wasn't expecting to. And she won a door prize--2005 BotCon exclusive set! Which I promptly took from her.
    3) Lexington was a fun town at night. Went to some local bar--The Cheapside--and watched a great blues band, then hung out with the lead singer for most of the night.
    4) G1 complete Roadbuster in fantastic condition!
    5) Don signed my Dinbot and Metroplex lithos!

    Bad
    1) I'll throw one thing out there--dealer room was REALLY crowded, especially on the first two days. But that's a VERY minor beef.

And next year on the east coast again--I know that's a pain for a lot of folks, but for a Georgian, it's pretty nice.

    Goods:
    -Met Peter Cullen!!1111oneoneone
-Some stuff there were at great prices.
-Great atmosphere. People there were super friendly...

    Bads:
-...except most of the people who queued up for the casino night. Seemed kinda smug.
    - Super expensive overall. $170 for registration (300 with toys)?! WTF?!

    The Goods:

    Peter Cullen
Scott Mcneil + Donuts = 'nuff said
Panels were all pretty much great stuff
Nice haul I wound up with
    Great food at the Buffet
    Very comfortable room
Met a couple people from the boards (I'm not a big group social type so I only met very few people)

    The bads:

    Stuffy meeting rooms
Only 3 elevators in the whole hotel? WTflyingF was that all about?
VERY EXPENSIVE hotel breakfast buffet for having very little choices. We ate out the next several days.
Poor Blu and Pauline seemed like the "underdogs" of the BW voice actors.
Poorly thought out Awards dinner - not enough room, not enough dining tables, not enough game tables, free-for-all approach to the buffet lines.
    Extremely rude fans:
    • people standing there like dopes blocking the way in or way out of an elevator
    • people standing debating the fine points of a toy blocking any access by others to the sales tables
    • BIG damned backpacks. Jeezus h, people be careful with those things. You have a large blunt objectt stuck to your back that could hurt a person fairly badly. I saw a poor kid damn near get his block knocked off by someone and I felt like I was in a MXC obstacle course sometimes.
    • Just because OBOY THERE'S THAT <insert !coolest toy evar! name here> doesnt give you the right to plow thru 10 people at a table to get it.
Some folks have said the prices were pretty good. I guess I'm in the minority when I say I think most of the prices were pretty bad. The sheer selection out there seemed to be kinda paltry too....no variety...A lot of dealers with the same things over and over again, not a helluva lot of rares. I got a couple things I've wanted for a while, but some of the things I thought I could easily find were no where in sight all weekend.

All in all, I know I probably listed more bads and goods but the good things truly outweighed the bad. One can only hope they iron out the glitches for next year, and we get an even more outstanding convention! :rock

    The Good:
    • Having my girlfriend at the convention.
    • Being rescued by Alt Grimmy (Thanks Alphie!!!!)
    • Meeting Peter Cullen again and having a front row seat for his panel.
    • Scott McNeil calling me an Evil Bastard. :lol  Scott is the man!!
The voice in question is Waspinator's.
    • Meeting Tinkles, Boardwise, Deefuzz, Drew Eden and many many other histerical TFW staff and board members.
    • Chilling with Draven Saturday night during the casino night (umpa lumpa...)
    • Impromptu Improv session with Vangelus about the beer bottle he was holding.

    The Bads:
    • Spending all day Saturday in the panel room and not getting a chance at the dealers room, save for about 20 minutes.
    • Having to leave at 4am this morning for the airport.

Overall, it was a good convention for sure. All I've read here so far are views similar to my own. My biggest gripe was the dinner (buffet is great, but the facilities weren't big enough, in my opinion, to hold both dinner and casino night).

I agree with the dealer room having a crowded feel. It was hard to get close to the dealer tables that were in U-shape layouts since two or three people would spread themselves out to fill the whole booth. Also, I didn't see the variety in the vendors' offerings that I had expected (example: RobotMasters seemed sparse; there were some, but not as many and not the particular ones I expected to see). I still left with quite a haul; however, I didn't find the items I wanted most.

Outside that, everything was great. The convention set is nice. Compared to previous conventions, it seemed like some panels gave more time for Q&A, and you get that something extra from the Q&A time. With this year's being so good, I can't wait to see what's in store for us next year.

    Goods:
-Board members finally came up and introduced themselves. I've worn my MegaMus t-shirts for three years now and this is the first convention where a lot of people from the boards did that.
-Prices I thought were fair although boxed stuff was up there, past ebay prices that is. Selection, talk about selection, the Hartmans had 1 of just about everything for sale.
    -Biggest turnout I've ever seen.
-Peter Cullen, after three conventions with him there I finally got his autograph.
-Free parking for hotel guests. I can't stand paying $100 plus for a room and then being hit for parking.

    BAD:
-Elevators, I almost took the stairs to the 15th floor with my big box of swank.
-Much more organized than last year but still needs fine tuning.
-Three conventions and I still do not have a Primal Prime!!!!
    Overall, the best Botcon ever.
Hope to see everyone next year.
Oh and Gen1Fan you know the best part of the convention was.....

    finally meeting me!!!!

Hell, I would have taken the stairs, if they didn't have them closed off. You could take the stairs *down* to the lobby (don't want to block off escape routes in case of fire). But as far as I know, the stairwell was inaccessible from the lobby, so you couldn't go *up* the stairs, unless you got lucky and someone was exiting the stairs.

    Ebay:
    The Good:
    1. Meeting Megamus, Liokaiser, and a few other TFW2005ers.
    2. Room-to-Room Parts trading. Made a ton of $ selling my doubles (Never hit the ATM once!).
    3. Getting my G1 Jetfire's right arm fixed. Findig an actual monsterbot gun
    4. Thoroughly shopping around before buying anything in the dealer room (got some excellent deals). INCLUDING GETTING A SECOND BOTCON TIGATRON FROM A DEALER FOR $20!!!

    The Bad:
    1. The freaking hotel elevators.
    2. The stupid food court with its poor selection and its wonky hours.
    3. Seeing jackasses strutting around with their Classics figures.
    4. Selling my computron to a 'Fan' only to see it at his dealer table the next day for twice what he paid me for it. As of Sunday he hadn't sold it which made me feel a little better. Jackass.

    GOOD:
Meeting people. LOTS more people than last year.
People either buying you drinks or thrusting drinks into your hand.
Managed to snag some exclusives despite not registering.
The area around the convention center and hotel was fairly lively.

    BAD:
The elevators. Holy shit. It wasn't unreasonable to stand waiting for 20 minutes or more to get on when the dealer room closed each evening. Whoever said the stairs weren't accessible from the lobby is mistaken. There was an accessible stairwell, it just wasn't particularly apparant. I actually did at one point walk all 9 floors up to my room, and still got there about 15 minutes before anyone else.
The Arbys in the food court.
The hotel staff was kind of rude and snotty. Also, $11 for a continental breakfast is ludicrous. The hotel was not nearly as nice as last year either.
Waking up at 7 in the morning everyday after stumbling in at 3:30 the night before.

The bad list is longer, but this year was AWESOME. WAY better than last year, and I can't wait for next year.

    Ebay:
    Good:

Reuniting with 2005ers I had met previously
    Meeting more 2005ers
    Corona
Some of the swag I bought at the Hartmans table
    Meeting Peter Cullen
    Opal Shots
    Chatting with Simon Furman
Drunk posting from the laptop of Aksmth
    The squeeky hammer of doom

My only BAD parts have to do with the Hyatt:

The employees were all piles of crap (with the exception of the bartenders in the lobby, they did alright by me).

Our room was never, let me repeat: NEVER tended to by staff at all. No beds made, no new towels brought in...nothing.

Breakfast for 11 dollars? Uhm...The Holiday Inn express down the street had free breakfast.

Internet access for 10 dollars for 24 hours? Uhm...The Holiday Inn Express down the street had free internet access.

The elevators were gruelingly torturous, to the point when loading my car up (my room for Fri and Sat nights was all the way on the 12th floor) and needing to bring stuff to the parking lot, I took the stairs...12 flights of stairs with boxes and such.

The "you can't bring beer up to your room" rule...which was less of a rule and more of a, lets fuck with this guy sort of situation. Funny how on Friday night I walked right up to my room, through the main lobby, with a case of beer. A few other guests arriving had some cases put with their luggage to be brought up by valet, and that wasn't a problem either. But for some reason on Saturday night when bringing up my second case, I get accosted by someone at the desk and a security guard.

Overall for $129 per night, I kind of expected a little bit more. I should have just remained at the Holiday Inn Express down the road, it was $72 per night, and they weren't trying to get more out of you for internet access and breakfast. Funny, that I have never had an issue with a Hyatt before, whatever you do, avoid the Hyatt in downtown Lexington, KY!

Your list is right on, Dan. I saw a room on my floor (floor 3) getting cleaned on Saturday morning, and they brought out at least 6 cases of beer. I'm sure they didn't get accosted for that. Sounds like the security guard was frustrated and wanted to pick on someone. My list goes like this:

    Good:

    1. Meeting all the folks from the boards, esp.: Bimma, Al, Pete, Dan, Curt, Kristen, Chris, and others I may have forgotten. I had a blast with you all!
    2. Lots and lots of toys. I spent waaaaaayyyyy too much!
    3. Scored a couple of Classics even though I didn't think I would.
    4. Taking said classics up to room 822 and sharing the love. That will always be a neat memory.
    5. Seeing Aaron Archer scream "Aaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!" on Saturday night, and then seeing his reaction at Kristen's car.
    6. Playing "Hide and Seek" from "he-who-must-not-be-named"
    7. McDonald's down the road every morning instead of hotel breakfast.

    Bad:

    1. Elevators: these weren't always a problem with me, but they did get frustrating.
    2. Smelling the body odor/farts/general nerd stank of people in the dealer room. C'mon folks....have a little pride in yourself.
    3. The guy who wore black pinstriped dress pants, white socks, and navy blue crocs every day. Why did someone not alert him to his fashion disaster?!
    4. The restaurant at the hotel DID suck. Breakfast was a joke...we got the buffet one morning, and decided it was a terrible idea and that we'd never speak of it again.
    5. Having to leave a day before everyone else.

Overall, a great convention. I had a lot more fun than I did in 2003, and I can't wait to come back again sometime.

    Lets see:

    Good
    Catching up with the 2005ers
    The dealer room
Seeing the guy with the huge TV sized box full of stuff he had bought form the Hartman's table
Seeing the Hartman's collection (though a shame it was for sale :( )
    The new products
Emptying the bar out of various drinks on 2 nights
Getting hugged by Peter Cullen and told to never lose my Scottish accent
The wave of EEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYY!!!! on Saturday night.

    Bad
The breakfast was kinda expensive, though I never went for the buffet
I was constantly tired due to traveling and time zones
The jock that was trying to get a rise out of my in the lift. Should have told him I was here for a Hitman Convention.

There are probably more bad's but can't remember.
The good times out weights the bad.

Though strangly, I never had a problem with the lifts, save for a slight delay in them arriving, and the staff I spoke to seemed fine.

Overall this was a STRONG convention. I did NOT expect the crowd to be what it was this year. I felt sorry for the walk-ins as that line was insanely long

I won't talk about what I liked since I'd just be repeating what was said so I'll mention what I didn't like

1)The elevators were slow as sin due to a)There being only 3 elevators and b)WAY too many people wanting to use them at the same time

2)Didn't meet some board members I thought I'd see (Blackstar, Kranix2K..I'm looking at you when I say that :p  )

3)No free breakfast buffet, I missed that buffet from last year :cry

4)Didn't get to chat with the members I wanted to including KidDynamite and others :(

    Classic BotCon moments,

1)Elvin came down in a Darth Vader costume, wearing tighty whiteys exclaiming "Transformers suck" and NO ONE had a camera on hand to record it on film

2)Super Megs droped to his trousers right by me

    3)I recieved a Kickbac...oops I mean a Tinkles butt humpin' :p

    The Good:

Met LOTS of people I've talked to online :D

Great turnout! So much for the theory that the later timing keeps everyone away!

Being able to make my plans for next year NOW!

Picked up some really good stuff, not bad for being pretty light on cash...

The dealer room was great, lots of stuff I wanted at prices that didn't kill my wallet

Seeing the football team show up, make fun of Transformer collectors amongst themselves, then seeing about half of them IN THE DEALER ROOM buying things :lol

    The Bad:

The hotel! Good grief, last years was soooooooo much better and not that much more expensive! The staff was rude, sometimes openly mocking their "geeky" patrons! Seriously WTF! A hotel that makes fun of its own paying customers! For $20 more last year we got free breakfast, elevators that worked well, a much larger room, and a microwave and fridge so we didn't HAVE to eat out every meal.

The food court...again not a knock on the show...but they kept goofy hours (What kind of food place closes right at dinner time?) and the need to walk across the mall to go to the next escalator was agrivating....

The layout wasn't the best...pretty long trek between the dealer room / autograph area to the panel room.

I wish several of the panels (Like Paul's) had repeated like they did last year with Rik's.

So my complaints about the actual 'con are really pretty minor, not like the ones about the hotel!

It was great hangin' with you too ;)

And I've been sayin' that about the timing for years. But yes this year didn't just dispel that theory... It's reduced it to ash :ev:

Yup, I'm keeping an eye on vacation package prices as we speak. I'd rather miss 2008 then miss 2007

    *EDIT*

Oh another good, I was interviewed for a Transformers Documentary. And gave a cheap plug for TFW2005 :D
