Can't be worse than the anime.

I thought there already was a movie(s) in production? Meh. As long as it's more like the manga than the anime it could be cool.

The anime was amazing, a pretty decent adaptation of the original manga.

Any live-action Akira would be the same as the live-action Neon Genesis Evangelion they're still trying to make. Look at how Dragonball turned out.

Oh, agreed 100%. I was amazed someone could turn out such a pile of nonsensical tosh and get it released as a film.

Problem is it works well as an animated film as people like that movie for it's technical achievements, production value, and prowess as an animated film which for the most part you cant capture in live action.

How do you figure? Otomo controlled every aspect of the manga and the film, are you saying Hollywood can do a better job adapting it then the original author? And the anime is pretty faithful at least in spirit, remember the manga was unfinished when he made the film and like most films has to adapt it so it makes it work. I hear this claim a lot but fail to understand how the film version is such a huge break from the comic.

The Hughes Bros. didn't write the Book of Eli, Gary Whitta did. Smh.

It even says it in the article. Smh again.

Awesome, because disconnecting a comic heavy on social and political influence from its original context worked so well for V for Vendetta. Not to mention that they are apparently the folks resposible for the From Hell movie.

Whoa whoa. Calm down there buddy. I never said anything bad about the anime. Hell, why would I? It's one of my favourite films!

I just mean that the movie (for various reasons) omitted a lot of material that made the manga so epic. I want to see it all adapted to film.

I'm not a big fan of the Anime myself. At all. But that aside, Dragonball Evolution has scared me in regards to any live-action interpretations of an Anime.

Never got worked up to begin with :lol  I'm just saying as most people like to pit the manga VS the anime without having actually read the manga.
