The other day I went for a few drinks with a friend of mine and while at a pub doing shots, we got into a Transformer debate about who would kick whose ass between Bombshell and Mindwipe. My friend drunkenly stated that Mindwipe G1 would beat Bombshell hands down and that even Mindwipe ROTF still had a better chance of eventually defeating the idiotic Bombshell by cheating with his horde of hypnotized Autobot/Decepticon minions. Alas by that time he was finished rambling the alcohol in my system had taken complete control of my mind and I could not defend my beloved Bombshell ...

... so which Mindwipe do you think would kick Bombshell's ass?

    Here are some Tech Specs:

    Bombshell G1
Can turn foes into helpless accomplices by injecting cerebro-shells into their heads (robot or human) with his
stinger... gives him control of their minds... has a cruel sense of humor... arms himself by having his victims
debase themselves. In insect mode this Insecticon can fly 5.7 miles. In robot mode wears head-mounted
mortar... throws 50 pound explosive shell 8 miles. Cerebro-shells can be used against him if removed from victims
    head.

    Intelligence: 7
    Speed: 4
    Endurance: 5
    Rank: 6
    Courage: 5
    Firepower: 6
    Skill: 9

    Mindwipe G1
A mystic; spends most of his time trying to contact the electromagnetic essences of long-dead Decepticons than
talking to live ones. Binary-bonded to Vorath, former Nebulan Minister of Science, expelled from office as a result
of an illegal experiments scandal. In bat mode, has hypnotic stare, flies at 700mph. In robot mode, uses vipor
pistol -- shoots streams of neuro-circuitry paralyzing liquid.

    Strength: 8
    Intelligence: 6
    Speed: 7
    Endurance: 5
    Rank: 7
    Courage: 8
    Firepower: 7
    Skill: 9

    Mindwipe ROFT
With the power to mesmerize other robots, MINDWIPE might be a match even for OPTIMUS PRIME. The Matrix of Leadership
renders the Autobot leader immune, but MINDWIPE has a host of other robots totally under his control. He stays
safely in the air, while OPTIMUS PRIME struggles against a horde of hypnotized minions.

    Strength: 3
    Intelligence: 9
    Speed: 8
    Endurance: 4
    Rank: 5
    Courage: 4
    Firepower: 6

... and remember kids drinking and talking about Transformers at the Pud can kill a friendship.

Bombshell would win, he uses his hypnotized victims only as a distraction against the zombies and mindslaves Mindwipe uses, but Bombshell is also a fighter, and an inventor, he'd create weapons to fire at long distances, continuously giving himself space, therefore time, to build something bigger, eventually taking out Mindwipe, maybe with a condensed EMP or something.

Don't really know about a winner but I'll take ROTF Mindwipe over any other Movieverse character in terms of toy quality. He's awesome!

    Bombshell.

Bombshell has several key advantages over both Mindwipes. First and foremost, if you're going to allow Mindwipe the advantage of a hoard of hypnotized bots, it would only be fair to allow Bombshell his "Salvo" Insecticon clones. His organic and metallic devouring clones. However, that's only where Bombshell's dominance starts to come in.

Since the cowardly Mindwipe is attacking from afar with his army, Bombshell can simply Cerebro Shell them into becoming his mindless minions. After all, the Cerebro Shell should trump the hypnogaze as it's hard wiring as opposed to software changes. So the bigger Mindwipes army, the larger Bombshells ends up being. Bombshell has a secondary advantage in a battle of unwilling servants as Bombshell can shrink down to tiny real bug size and hide while Mindwipe is this big honking bat/jet target on the battlefield directing his slaves.

The next factor is as warriors with other weapons and Bombshell once again has the advantage. His giant explosive mortar makes him more optimally equipped to deal with either Mindwipe.

As crappy as the cartoon was, the Insecticons were almost in Dinobot territory. They were a major threat to the Autobots and Earth and weren't part of the Decepticons proper because they were such power players. There were several episodes where the 'cons and the 'bots had to team up to stop the Insecticon menace. Mindwipe got blasted into space in the US cartoon and ended up being a mostly bumbling idiot in Headmasters.

Finally, even ignoring all that, Bombshell has been seen hitching rides unnoticed on a number of bots (Silverbolt for one) in his tiny insect mode. He'd just fly up to Mindwipe and Cerebro Shell him. Battle over.

ROTF Mindwipe, because he's sneaky, and hangs like a bat. Plus unlike the others, he's a stealth bomber. They're so toast.

Not trying to start argument, but ROTF TF's dont seem like they are supposed to be as powerful as G1 cartoon TFs.

hmm ... the problem with Cerebro-shells is depending on how "strong-willed" the Mindwipe G1 and Mindwipe ROFT are, they can be immune to the devices affects and if successfully removed the Cerebro-shells can be used to send false signals to Bombshell.

Cerebro-shells seem to be above all that "strong-willed" nonsense, as it's physically directly hacking into the processor, where the various Mindwipe's hypnotic abilities rely on signal strength.

Except that in various fiction, both Optimus Prime and Megatron have resisted Bombshell's Cerebro-shells due to their strong wills.

Not to mention some metals are too strong for the Cerebro-shell's laser-torches to penetrate.

Go for the less shielded joints. Or the vents and grills that most TF have on their bodies. At one point in the Marvel TF comic Bombshell even fired a shell into an open wound on Optimus' side.

Movie TFs are weaker than G1 (comic or cartoon), there´s no argument in that. It may vary in some characters (Bumblebee for example), but overall G1 characters ARE stronger.

Maybe it's not so much a case that Movie TFs are weaker, but rather G1 characters are 'overpowered'. Like DC vs Marvel, Superman is a tough bastard...too tough...overpowered tough...

I consider G-1 Mindwipe & ROTF Mindwipe as the same bot/persona. the stealt bomber mode is either a pre-form or newer alt mode for G-1 Mindwipe.

According the TF G-1 cartoon & G-1 Comic. newer TF technology is always stronger than older TF technology. so going by this rule,G-1 Mindwipe wins & beats G-1 Bombshell. because the headmasters & targetmasters were newer TF technology that were superior to older TF technology in both the cartoon & comic.
