This is my BM Optimus repaint/minor mod.
With the right colors, the CGI doesn't look too far off so maybe they had a different design picture/sample than the end, toy color.
Some areas are still impossible to be correct in both modes but I attempted to do some paint tricker-ey to look like the CGI. Covering the orange is the biggest improvement. (was the orange some sort of reference to the TM2 BW optimus?)

I replaced the left arm with a, second, right arm so I could have a working elbow. It allows me to have Optimus displayed in this walking/running arm position and gives the arms a wider stance.
One of the downfalls of my paint tricker-ey is visable on the elbow when displayed in this position. The half gold elbow is part of the robot, mode, gold elbow.

Second downfall is visable with the arms in standard position. The gray area is the robot, mode, arm shields. (The gold elbow is hidden in this position).

Another needed detail is the eyeballs. The toy just had white eyes. I gave Optimus some blue eyeballs, for his regular face, and some red eyeballs for his angry face.

Gave him his Silverback look and more paint details.

Here's the Bot mode. The silver is in the correct position, as is, the gold elbow. 1, of the three sides of the hand, is silver instead of gold to finish the arm shield.

I left the three spots of orange, on the face, and painted the rest.

    Painted the rocket boosters.

The Silverback is visable now but there isn't any way to hide it.

This came out fantastic, IMO. I hope you enjoy it, too.
A few more pics/comparisons will be added in a reply.

    Thanks

    Additional photos, momentarily.

How did you get that comment in before I added this reply page?

Here is some additional photos and comparisons to the KO, and more.

The KO looked like it was closer to the CGI than any of the toys but it isn't really. The ape head is but the ape back has the robot chest, exposed, instead of the silverback and he cannot squat like an ape
    [IMG]

The ape head is hanging on the robot back, the blue shoulders and forearms are on for beast mode and he doesn't have any rocket boosters
    [IMG]

Even with the origonal Optimus legs, he cannot squat correctly.

Here are the additional toy pics along side the Hasbro/Mainframe/Rhinomation photo.

    With the other customs.

And with Titanium Cheetor and KO Nightscream.

Rattrap is still unfinished but here is a preview.

    BM Optimus: I am TRANSFORMED

always liked the sries, nice to see repaints that look more like the cgi, I might have to rewatch it again

I think the half colours on the arms is unavoidable and doesn't take away from a great repaint

That is fantastic. I never realized that the toy wasn't total crap until you painted it properly. Great job, and great vision.

Very cool. The Beast Machines designs are all pretty good, but the toys just couldn't live up to them. The paint job you've given this bad boy goes a long way towards fixing that.

That's awesome. The show's writing was a hippy LSD Trip but the CGI was made of win. Loving the repaint.

Nice bud! that looks great! cant wait to see the rest of the cast, like Rattrap...

Are you making a Nightscream? what about Botanica?

The problem was that Mainframe made the designs extremely different to the figures (to avoid transformartion problems for the animation), simpler if you will (thats why the cast morphs between modes)

This Primal (along with the cycle & tank drones), were designed after the show was on TV and obviously made with the intention of have a little bit more show accuracy :)

Yeah. I noticed that as the line went on, figures got more accurate. I liked the first BM Primal, but it looked nothing like the show. Still a good figure, though.

Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't it a couple of years (or at least a year) from design, to finished product? What is the CGI time frame?

The biggest difference from some of the toys to CGI, is color, (not counting transformation/morhing) except for the initial toys (which looked nothing like the show) but to save on cost, Mainframe didn't want to change every figure so certain designs were chosen to represent each figure.
For example: they didn't want Thrust or Tankor to be a different CGI design so the basic drone design was used as Thrust and Tankor.

Blackarachnia is almost exact except for the the color. Mainframe made small changes like having a pair of legs hang off the outside of her butt when the toy had them hanging from underneath (but she changed size from being a large spider to a small robot in the CGI.)

Isn't this why Hasbro collaborated with cartoon network so the toys and show would be alike?

I am not planning on making a botanica. I don't know where to begin. (I have seen customs but it is beyond me to make one from scratch, at this time).

As for Nightscream, I am happy with the KO.

I might sometime paint the vehicons (not in the near future) but I wish Hasbro would make a deluxe Tankor, instead (that looked like the basic).

I must have done something, really, good to get this many replies so soon. Thanks for ALL your comments

I do have a Beast Changer, custom, coming soon.
