According to the commentary on disc one, that was originally gonna be his name. They changed it because it made his identity as Silverbolt too easy to figure out. I found that kinda interesting.

Ha, what a terrible Transformer name. Sad that the name sounding like shit didn't factor into the re-naming process at all.

I always thought the name was changed because of the indie comic publisher around at the time, but I guess it was too obvious.
Still, it was a cool name. While maybe not great, it's still a decent name.

Skybolt is a hell of a lot better than the japanese names in Galaxy Force.

(Thats really not saying much though, it's not hard to top those ******ed names...)

What the hell does that mean? the names in galaxy force are great, especially compared to most US names. Chromia is better than Thunderblast (talk about a ******ed name), and how many Crumplezones and Dirt Bosses do we need? arent there 2 thunderblasts and 2 dirt bosses in cybertron right now?

Beast Hunter Skybolt? I'm not sure I've seen that. What is it?

Skybolt was the space station on Centurions.

    Wasn't that Skyvault?? :)

I'm fairly sure Skybolt was one of the 'Weapon systems' Ace McCloud used.

As for the Skybolt VS Jetstorm, they're equally bland IMO

Beast Hunters was the working title for Beast Machines
and Skybolt would have looked like this:
    (Deluxe toy mold)

edit: the name Beast Machines was just chosen when these sketshes were designed
