I normally don't like name changes, but doesn't it make more sense now that Bluestreak is named Silverstreak? Since he's not really blue. And he's...silver.

I always remember being confused by Smokescreen being blue and Bluestreak being closer to the color of smoke.

Well the original intent behind the name was that he never shut up and 'talked a blue streak'...but yes Silverstreak makes sense too because of the coloring.

    blue streak
    –noun
    1. something moving very fast: They traveled like a blue streak through Italy.
    2. continuous, rapid, or interminable speech: to talk a blue streak.

Assuming Bob Budiansky was working from the Diaclone-colored box art when naming him, he probably thought "Bluestreak" made an excellent pun... the blue color + the meaning behind "blue streak" and the character was born.

Unfortunately, it didn't quite turn out that way, but it's a cool name nevertheless. Since "Silverstreak" doesn't mean anything, I've always thought it was a little random and ridiculous. Of course, one could make the same complaint about "Sunstreaker", I suppose.

Personally I just think the name Silverstreak sounds better than Bluestreak. Either way it really doesn't matter, as we can change the names of our TF's to anything we want them to be. Universe Tankor is a great example of this, as even I call him Octane, and I'm not even a fan of G1. Also, it could always be worse than this, his new name could be Brownstreak. Would make for a wonderful two-pack with Shitpiece though...

This is the reason I keep hearing for a new Trailbreaker figure being held up, since Hasbro no longer has the rights to the name. So why not call him Pathbreaker and just have done with it?

    Trailblazer...

Oh, what? Sorry, lost in thought. I prefer Bluestreak. I always felt that the personality should define the name, not the body.

Plus, Bluestreak sounds better than Silverstreak.

I don't think they can use Chevy Trailblazer either. Or can they?

As long as they don't call him Pathfinder.

But anyway, Silverstreak makes no sense. It's just something somebody pulled out of their a.... hat. Bluestreak was always a reflection of his personality, and has the added benefit of being an existing phrase. So, I'll always call him Bluestreak.

If I got a nickel for every time I explain this, I'd be a rich guy already.

Ask yourself what the difference is between names like "Jazz", "Hound", "Tracks", "Ratchet", "Frenzy" and "Brawl", which Hasbro simply tacked the prefix "Autobot" or "Decepticon" onto, and names such as "Hot Rod", "Bluestreak" or "Trailbreaker", which Hasbro either had to substitute ("Rodimus", "Rodimus Major", "Silverstreak") or didn't release any new toys of yet.

And then ask you if you think Bandai could release a toy named "Megazord Optimus Prime" tomorrow.

Bluestreak I don't mind, primarily for G1 nostalgia purposes. But yeah, Silverstreak does make a lot more sense than Bluestreak.

I'm with you, but did you see how many fanboys lost their shit over Robot Heroes Bombshell being named Hardshell?
