So what do you think? Which is he for you? Cause to me, it screams Classics, but there are movie aspects to him as well. Thought I'd put it to a vote, see what everyone thinks. Cause while true, he was released in the movie line, and was used in their fiction and has some of the aesthetic, he ALSO was planned to be released in the universe (aka classics) line and is fairly G1 in basic idea, and was actually partially designed before the movies were made.

So what is it for you?

Even if the toy was conceived to be part of the Classics series, the execution of the toy's production all point to the film franchise.

Either way, Bludgeon was never depicted in the G1 cartoon, so I gladly left the toy on the store shelves. Don't have a place in my display for it.

I don't really think he fits in either, but he looks too Movie to be fully Classics. I have him on my Classics shelf as a stand-in for that Deluxe Bludgeon upgrade to come out, though...

    Still waiting on that...

He has no "character" representation in the movie and is an evolution of a g1 character which makes him "classics" in my mind. IMO, movie characters are more like new characters with nothing more in common that g1 than names.

I guess should vote... I still say he's neither, but he's deifnitely geared a lot more towards the movie lines with his overall aesthetic.

I'm also pretty tired of the "argument" that Hasbro said he was originally designed for classics... because the counterpoint of, "Well obviously he wasn't released as a classics figure, and his design shows why." can be made just as easily.

This isn't a case of something like Fracture or Wingsabre that were blatant repaints of toys from other lines and kept those designs from previous lines 100%.

movieverse. he's got the more human-esque and complex transformation that the movie line uses.

That's like asking "is a spork a spoon or a fork?" It's neither, because it's specifically designed to be both! :)  Put it where it seems right to you.

Personally, this was my solution to Bludgeon and his repaint:

    My Classics Bludgeon: ROTF Bludgeon
    My Classics Banzaitron: Botcon Banzaitron

My Movie Bludgeon: 2-pack Bludgeon (the Wreckage repaint)
    My Movie Banzaitron: HFTD Banzaitron

That way I get one of that mold in each line, but the two characters also don't share a mold within that line.

I say Classics. With Bludgeon being a pretender; It only fitting that he take part of the movie aspect(human-ques) while paying homage with his vehicle mode(tank).

Ya know... I love the way you think.

If there was a way to even fit the smallest classics scout into his back somehow, I'd be all over that justification.

Kinda tired of all the "belongs in Classics vs. doesn't belong in Classics" arguments. Put them in whatever collection you want. I keep mine in my "Transformers" collection :p
