Odd thing about it is the model looks decently textured and modeled, but the animation is really... not decent.

Yeah, there's no way they're fitting an Abrams tank into the body of a fighter jet. If Blitzwing ever did make it into the Bay-verse, they'd probably make him some kinda' Cybertronian half-tank/half-jet.

The tutorial looks to be a good example of compositing, but the animation does look bad.

Do not make the assumption that the movieverse actually works around real physics. Each transformation is a complete cheat with stuff and parts simply expanding and appearing out of what is essentially subspace so the idea of a tank paired up with a fighter jet on the same robot is a moot point.

ILM and Digital Domain actually went to great lengths to avoid mass shifting. From the first movie's DVD making of documentary:

Orci was quoted in 2006 saying on Don Murphy's board:

Just because that render is not from DOTM dosen't mean Blitzwing isn't in the movie there is still hope.

Too bad. I wish it was true for Blitzwing to be in the movie.

This. The ILM guys themselves said that at least in the first movie, all the bots had some major cheating going on. Fairly obvious too, especially when Bumblebee transforms after kicking Barricade's ass.

EDIT: The guy who won the Fanaticon trip in '07 won it. I'll quote the post in which he mentioned the cheating bit later, since you need to be an approved member now to visit the forum.

I don't doubt that they cheated, but they have stated time and time again that the designs could theoretically work flawlessly if someone had enough time to figure out the math. There's a giant difference between having Bumblebee's shoulder briefly intersect with his forearm and making a 70 ton tank transform into a 10 ton jet.

EDIT: The guys at ILM strived to make it look as plausible as possible, and I'm sure with an infinite amount of time, they could figure it out somehow.

This video is something I've always wanted to see in the live action fiLms. A triple changer is hopefully what we'll get to see more of in DOTM.

I like the animation and everything eLse from this non-movie related vid.

    I've read the CINEFEX.
    I've read the CG Magazines...

There aint no way they would ever work. There is no getting around cheating.

I have a couple of colleagues who work at ILM. I posed the same question to them a couple years ago when I was building Nomad. The answer I got was "Yeah, it's possible. It would take forever. Whoever's rigging it would probably go crazy, but hey, anything's possible." Never say never.

It was pretty obvious from the start this thing was fan-made/unofficial/fake/etc. I'm just shocked tfw2005 actually reported it on the front page and considered it news worthy when we've had so many more concrete things come our way like Leo not coming back for DotM being ignored on the front news page. I was even more surprised Transformers Live Action Movie Blog was the one that started this ridiculous rumor. I considered that the most reliable source for Movie news till I saw that post.

Allow me to quote Dave Fogler- model supervisor:

"When the modelers were building the robots and vehicles, they did so without regard to transformation. The CG vehicles had to match the real vehicles and the robots had to match the approved concept art. "There's not a lot of logic in how the parts function in the robots," says Fogler. "Trying to reconcile the robot artwork to the car was pretty much impossible because the robots were so abstract in their shapes. We left it to the animators to work out the transformations.

Not to retype the next paragraph, I will summarize that for Barricade, there was a model of the car and a model of the robot with no in-between model, and each transformation animation was done scratch for the camera view.

Pge 047, September 2007 CG World.

If something is 99.99999 percent impossible it's still .00001 percent possible.
