WASTELAND - 5 Custom Post Apocalyptic Cyborgs

Note to Admins: This thread could probably be moved to the "non-TF Customs" Radicon area. My bad. :)

    WASTELAND
Visions of the the Cybernetic Post-Apocalypse by Blayne Scott | ActionFigurePics.com

Here's a series of post-apocalyptic I started making about 2 years ago. They're all combinations of heavy kit-bashing/splicing of various toys, combined with large sculpted areas (using Aves Apoxie Sculpt). All the figures are roughly Marvel Legends human-scale - ranging in size from 6" tall for the humans, to 9" for the "Reaver" class cyborg.

I primarily used Vallejo acrylics on them, but also delved into Tamiya and Citadel paints for particular tones. All the weathering is done with a combination of MIG powders (sealed afterward) + Citadel's discontinued line of Inks (Browns/Chestnuts/Flesh Wash/Black/Red) along with some of their (less than stellar...) 'washes'.

All figures sealed with KrazyGlue liquid type superglue and Vallejo Matte / Glossy varnishes. Since I make toys to be played with - all of these can be handled/posed/or 'played' with. Alot of the extra (dremel/sculpting) work came from adding articuation where there was none. In the end, I'm really pleased with each figure, and have 4 more in the works.

Inspired by the little snippets of world-building story 3A toys come with, I started writing short bits of story to accompany each figure here, too - sort of my own shared 'doomsday' type universe.

I saved these 5 figures to be posted over at CustomCon30, which started on Dec. 12th - so be sure to stop by there or my index at FigureRealm and check out the full photo gallery for these figures.

Any questions, or critique - post away in this thread. For WIP shots, check the next post down.

    Thanks!

    Amazing Creativity!!!
Man I love when people create their own stuff for their own universe.
I would also express my awe to you guys who can actually make customs from marvel/mcfarlane/DC/etc.. figs i mean Tfers in general to me, have proven to be far more easy to do. i mean there are screws and pins... no such luck with the other figures. So i tip my hat to you chaps!
    Damned cool mate!

Hmmm... this stuff looks a tad... familiar. Mwahahaha! ;)  :lol

Seriously though, killer work. I appreciate your obvious love of Richard Stanley's Hardware. It seems akin to my own. :D

That last one with the hood/robe reminds me a lot of the Ghost People from The "Dead Money" add-on for "Fallout: New Vegas". Looks awesome!

First off - thanks guys! I'm happy everyone seems to dig my "Wasteland" figures, and the fictional universe I've created for them.

Since I started customizing backwards from many TF customizers did (6"/3.75" figures first, then TFs) I was surprised by how modular most Transformers are. Being used to the drill & crack open method - having screws to disassemble/reconfigure a toy feels like cheating. ;)

If you'd thinking of taking the jump into non TF figures (or any custom that requires alot of non-styrene modification) I'd highly recommend checking out some of Jin's tutorials, and those found over at figurerealm.com.

I managed to find a copy of that film online last year, and wondered why I'd never seen it before. Given my interest for 90s cinema and Industrial music - I felt silly having missed out on it. Glad you like'd the reference for MARK 13. :)

    9 who or what? :)

Ah, I've yet to play that - too busy cutting toys. ;)

My younger brother's an avid gamer, and he really enjoyed that, and a few other Post. Apoc. games on Xbox360. I drew inspiration from alot of the gasmask stuff based on the originals: old WWI photos, and a mix of Nom De Plume of 3A/Ashley Woods toy-fame.

Generally, to answer a few PMs I've been getting: While these figures were made for my own collection, I could part with them individually or as a set for the right price. :)

Also: Yes, I do accept commissions. I'm booked up until late February 2012, but if anyones interested in 6"- 8" custom figures (or TF customs, although I've yet to post very many of that style) - drop me a line and we'll chat: blaynescott@gmail.com

To everyone who I didn't multi-quote: Thanks for your appreciation! :)  Until I have time to finish up "Series 2", here's a few other figures I've made that are thematically linked to the 'Wasteland' series:

    Wasteland PUNISHER v2

Future Warterminator - Battle Damaged Model T-800

    Biker TERMINATOR Endoskeleton v2

I'm really glad to see you sharing your stuff here. Have I told you I'm still overwhelmed by your paint technique?

    Good stuff, good stuff.

Definitely worth a play if you get the time. I'd definitely play Fallout 3 first though. Much better game in my opinion. But I think you'd definitely dig the setting.
