I have a quick question about Blaster, did the door open on him or was most broke and not open at all? Trying to regroup my collection and want to know whether this affects the mint toy or does it drop the value thanks.

The door on Blaster is a particularly delicate part, to my knowledge many of them broke over the years. I managed to fix mine some time ago, though, so they can be repaired if you know what to do, and depending on the extent of the damage.

I was lucky in having a door that survived. Soundwave on the other hand....his door is demolished.

If you are referring to the original G1 Blaster, the door opened but literally had to be forced open. 2 kids in my sixth grade class had one and both were the same, you had to take a screwdriver and pry down the eject button with incredible force just to get the door open.
It was that hard, I'm not kidding.
Thats why a LOT of the original G1 have broken doors.

My original opened when I was a kid with no problems. Unfortunately mine was demolished. I bought a new one at a convention a couple of years ago and it works fine. I made sure that the door works before buying it.

I just picked up a G1 blaster and the door wouldn't open. It's a pretty easy fix though. Also use some automotive grease when you put it back together and it should never lock up again.

Well... last night I embarked on the journey to re-open my Blaster.

I took out all the screws. Popped the arms, legs, and head out. So I'm looking at just the tape deck part. I snapped a picture (will try to post tonight) so you can get an idea of what it looks like in there.

I fiddled with the eject button and the slider bar that moves up to allow the deck to open. It seems these two parts are not meant to work together. They just don't line up in any way to make anything happen. I tried flipping the parts over and re-arranging them... and I got nothing.

I did manage to fix a depressed play button, so now it looks better.

But here are some things I found browsing online today... posted at the google boards:

I'm going to try that button combo when I get home. If it works, then cool. If not, thats fine too...

Take it all apart, clean the parts (hot water with dish soap and a toothbrush), and use some automotive grease in between any pieces that slide against each other.

    Pushing Down Off
    Pushing Down Eject
    Pushing down Play again....
