She looks ridiculously shiney, I think it'll be very distracting if thay are all colored like that, and if they aren't she'll stand out a lot.
I appreciate the continued interest from the majority in my work. Transtech isn't for everyone. Not sure if you're too familiar with the concept. It's not for every Transformers fan, that's for sure. The designs are quite akward and very much 'out there', but I think if you can stomach TT Blackarachnia, you'll appreciate the rest of the work. I'll take the 'ridiculously shiney' as a compliment since that's exactly what was intended for the character. She's meant to look evolved from the more traditional Transformers, almost ethereal and ghostly. Very alien, very fluid. I worked quite a bit to turn the lineart into reflective, glossy metals amid firey lighting. The rest of the femmes won't be as wild, but that's exactly what TT is all about. Stay tuned. - Alty
Hey guys, been working on Transmetal II Blackarachnia, and I wanted to share my progress with the lot of you. Let me know what you think! - Alty
I have no idea how I missed this thread. I guess I haven't been posting in the art forum nearly enough First, let me say your linework is amazing. It's one of the best TF pieces I've seen in a long time (if you aren't working on TFs professionally, you should be). Second, I really like the color choice on TT Blackarachnia (I'm still disappointed they didn't make that series) but you're way off on TM2 BA. The color style seems to be working just fine so far but unless you're deliberately changing her colorscheme it's pretty far off the mark. The pink on the shoulder pad should be much darker (more maroon than magenta). The helmet is yellow and the gray should be this bluish-black color. Of course, this is immaterial if you're intention is to change her colors, in which case it looks fine.
Thanks for the compliment. That's just made my day. Oh, and I know the color scheme for TM2 isn't what's on the toy or even from the cartoon. I guess I should have mentioned that. My bad! XD It's a special deco requested by the commissioner. Brownie points if you can guess what from. - Alty
Botcon Arcee. Now, what's more important to you? Preparing for a baby that's going to be your child, or sharing robotits with us? Just kidding. I've love to see the finished artwork, it looks spectacular already. Keep up the good work. Also to another poster...I'd say that BA is far more recognizable than Arcee is as a femme. I mean, she was a lead char for 4 consecutive seasons of shows (well, 5 if you count BMac as 1 or 2 seasons), and a prominent support char for TFA. Arcee was in a movie, a season no one liked, and a Basic sized toy in a series few liked. Also a model kit for Japan only and a movie toy. Arcee's got a lot of work to catch up to BA's level. Especially to the generation that grew up on BW and later!
You're welcome. I figured the color choice was deliberate but I thought I'd point it out anyway, just in case. Truth be told I'd rather TM2 BA have a different color scheme from her show version. Oh yeah, and it's the Botcon exclusive Arcee repaint. Right?
i'm with you there i love arcee but she's nothing to me next to Blackarachnia! i was a kid in the bw days so Blackarachnia's allwas been my fav and man your art ROCKS!!! hope we get to see it done soon
Thanks for all the continued interest in the commission. And as for the deco, well, it /is/ an Arcee, just not the BotCon one. - Alty
Well, TMII BA is finally completed, and just in time for Voting Day! Yaaaay! Hope you guys enjoy. Beast Machines is next up on the chopping block, and you won't believe her color scheme. Stay tuned, I might get her done before Thanksgiving (hehe). - Alty
