Which of Black Zarak's parts are cast in gold plastic? I was wondering, because I figured I'd buy an otherwise MLC sample and just repaint some Scorponok parts gold.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Most of the smaller parts are. Both foot, the claw/shield, the gun cover.

Hang on, what's the plan here? Are you looking to snag a BZ and a junker Scorponok, and just repaint the parts most likely to explode?

If that's the case, then there's nothing to do to the head, GP. since the head's already done.

I think if your gonna do it dip it in 14k gold and make him perfect.
This way is gold parts are real gold. That's what I wanted to do but I found another bz on eBay and replaced the parts.

Not to nitpick but 14k isn't "real" gold. ;)

That is an expensive proposition, but one I can sympathize with... I always figured that if I were even going to do something like that, I would just use a weak condition complete Skorpy and repaint him, and hopefully find some way to make reproduction GZ eclusive parts, or even just have most of the parts be reproduction...

That would be so awesome. I wonder, would gold plating adhere to plastic? You could use a glossy clear coat to protect somthing like that.

    wow.
I really want a Zarak and would probably be willing to pay for one but the toy is so fragile it would be a waste.

Indeed it would be, but I'm willing to spend the money to have a functional Black Zarak.

Also, I was thinking about trying to repro like the helmet and spear and whatnot.

your are about a year late on that idea...got that done with a black zarak body that i got off ebay a while ago...do not have the helmet or spear or parts painted gold yet...i just swapped a normal scorponok helmet on it along with a headmaster bot....all the other parts that were gold have been swapped with scorpy parts...

Who makes a good gold paint that adheres to plastic well?

I have not painted my parts yet because there will be one chance to get this right and i have not been able to get info on paints that work excellent with plastic.....

If you did that (which would be a smart move) you'd see Scorponok junker bodies flying off of eBay. I know, because I'd be one of them.

I'm not a G1 fan at all, but I love figures like Scorponok.

To be honest, it probably wouldn't be as difficult as some of the other kitbashes I've seen on these boards.
