well, i just couldnt leave him in the box, could I? No i had to fiddle with and transform him into robot mode, and in less than five minutes I managed to crack the gold piece above his foot and and crack straight thru one fo the hinges on his foot. I am so pissed at myself. anyways, is there anything that will work to fix him. I am considereing using a bonding agent called hi-sol and trying to fix it. any body got any tips, besides telling me Im a dumbassLOL. I dont want to keep him in scorpion mode for the rest of its toy life, but right now, i cant risk any more damage. any help would be appreciated.-MR

That's common with aged gold plastic. Sometimes it happens in the package.

You could try removing the gold parts, and swaping them with painted scorponok parts?

I know hindsight is always 20/20, but this is one of the reasons why rare, vintage toys should be left in the box regardless of their 'toy' status. Sorry for your loss.

he's not completely lost, i can carefully transform him and pose him, without any weapons of course(cause I aint taking that chance), I'm pretty sure I can fix the crack. I've always heard about the GPS syndrome, but damn, i never knew it was this bad. well, he's still mint and completely unused(unapplied stickers, complete paperwork). once I find out which bonding agent to use, we will see. you would think somone wouldve made repo parts for him already. I would pay good cash for some identical repo parts, and I'm sure that person could make out pretty well for themselves for those parts.

I knew about the other parts but I didnt think his feet would be that fragile also. and man, are they fragile. well, he still looks good in scorpy mode.

    =(

    damn, that sucks damon.

i think the best way to repair would be to disassemble the broken leg, and super glue/weld-on sheet styrene on back of the crack to give it more surface area for greater strength.

if you put a thin piece of tape on the inside of the crack first it'll also keep the glue from running out and fogging up the leg.

:-( one less BZ.................. also when you re-glue any gold tf plastic it does not hold well as you can ask anyone with a broken waste pyro.it might hold or crumble when any stress is put on it.The recolor scorp parts sounds good though?I have always been super scared to transform mine or take it out of the box!!!

If you're really desperate, Elrod might be able to help you. The only thing is that it's not really worth if for them to make that part. Unless you're willing to pay a price...

I'll ask for you and let you know.

Word of warning, use a glue that does not shrink when it dries. My friend used one that shrank a bit and made some new splits.

I'd fear for Guard Minder and Zarak even moreso. Those poor bastards are almost entirely made of the stuff. Yikes.

But that is such a terrible loss; I'm truly sorry to hear it. I could never bring myself to own one of those, just because a single wrong move... or even no move at all!... and he's ruined. Same for most of the other gold plastic syndrome sufferers, but it's worst of all for someone that big and expensive.

In my opinion it adds character. That is one hard-to-find piece and it's still worth a ton.. a collectors dream. If Has/Tak/Tomy ever reissue it, i'll buy 3 and decorate my lawn with them.

He still displays top notch, but i think this is the last time he comes out of the box, and the way the cracks are, I dont think they are going to seperate any time soon and fall apart. man, he is a beauty though. thanks for the help.

Man that thing looks sweet. I'll have to stick with my plain old green and purple one though. It's a shame about the GPS, but from that pic, it wouldn't be that noticeable on display, whether or not it continues to deteriorate is another story I guess.
