Not gonna lie it seems more like a popularity contest rather than an actual one about endings.

 

How can Guinness World Records award a "best ending" to a video game anyway?? How does that even work, thats not a record?? Ehh??

And Red Dead and LA Noire had much much better endings...and what the fuck they put Call of Duty 4 above Mass Effect??? The hell?!???

 

 

No mention of Mafia? The list should already be invalidated. Further injustice in having MGS3 not at least in the top 10. Listing Bioshock in the 'best endings ever' is also horrible, it should not even be in the top 50.

 

I agree Zelda, Grand Theft Auto, Pokemon Black and White had good endings

This list is sh*t... I'm surprised they didn't throw in Tetris.

 

Mega Man X5's endings deserve a spot. Megaman Battle Network 3's made me tear up a bit as a kid, so that too.

As much as I love Metroid, it's never had any solid "endings" beyond the boss battles and escape sequences with the exception of Fusion. If I had to pick one, it would be the original "HOLY CRAP IT'S A CHICK!" ending.

And Portal 2 had a way better ending than Portal.

Feh, severe lack of more niche titles in there, such as Japanese RPGs that aren't Final Fantasy VII. I'd personally have put Arc the Lad II in there. Final Fantasy VI too.

inFamous 2 also ought to go on there, but I'll give that a pass since it only came out last year. But if inFamous gets on there with its excellent plot twist ending then I could name a whole bunch of games which in my mind rival that finale.

Well, if by ending you mean gameplay wise then Metroid's ending are mostly pretty darn good, especially Prime 2. Was one of the most epic things ever.

 

MGS3 is vastly underranked on this list, Reach has a great ending, but it's a bit too high.

Super metroid is also underranked here. (Metroid fusions ending deserves a spot here too)

 

Karnov: NES had the best ending ever.

sadly that list was made based on a poll taken from approximately 10,000 votes not a fair representation of the gaming community, wouldnt be suprised if the majority of the voters were the 12 year old CoD players who have infected the online gaming community like the Flood.
shame they didn't make the pole more public, the last thing activision needs is reasurrance that they can keep sludging out the same game without needing to make an effort with single player (or the entire game for that matter).

This isn't any kind of actual deduction of quality. Not in the least. This is nothing more then a popularity contest.

 

I'm at a loss for words. People in Guinness clearly don't play video games.

This also makes me feel bad too as I'm a sucker for military action games, I wont call Black Oops (that is a funny btw) a great story but I enjoyed it.

I can name like a bazillion more games that have better endings.

HELL, I bet more than half the bloops that voted for Black Ops only did the multiplayer, no single player.
