Of the wonderful things he does!

This thread makes no sense, not that I expected it to. Black Lio Convoy was the only black Maximal both to get a toy or be featured in the cartoon series BWII. BB was also "black versioned" by the obsidian stone, but since his figure (along with Starscream) are already black, it would make little sense to release an all black version. He was not a "Nemesis".

I could elaborate, but really why bother?

Evil doppleganger heroes are an established cartoon trope. Just look at the long line of Bizarros, Mirror universe goatee sporting twins, Psycho Rangers, and the occasional imposter Spider-Man. Conversely, you very rarely see the villains flipped around and shown as "good" dopplegangers, though examples like Earth-3 Lex Luthor and the Shattered Glass Decepticons exist.

In the context of that one particular episode, you never saw dark twins of the rest of the cast because of time constraints. It's supposed to be a "heroes VS their dark halves" setup. Diver wasn't included because his toy was exclusive with a playset so harder to get ahold of - hence he got less screen time in favour of those whose toys were more readily available. Obviously the story setup required one villain to accidentally trigger a dark clone so Galvatron the big bad could use the example to put a plan into motion.

As regards the toys - Convoy's the main hero, Convoy sells, so they sell Lioconvoy as a toy. The rest aren't the main hero so they don't get toys made of them. Why would they? It's a one episode gimmick thing, and black repaints are not unknown as lucky draws or exclusives in Japan anyway.

I think the concept of a bad guy joining the good guys (temperory or permanent) is more common than a good version of a badguy appearing through whatever means.
