So, what did you fools wind up blowing money on?

I went to Best Buy around midnight, thinking I would be one of the first there. I was wrong. I was probably the 200th person in line. At 3 am, they started handing out tickets for items, and as luck would have it, they ran out of the one item I wanted about 20 people in front of me.

That's right. People were hoarding tickets, but I'm not going to bitch about it like others do with scalpers. Life is life and I didn't plan on getting there early enough. My bad.

So I paid someone $50 for their ticket, went and got coffee and warmed up, and then went back at 5 am to pick up my new toy - a HP Pavillion laptop, only $449 before tax and my ticket fee. It's only got a gig of RAM, which is why I suspect it to be so cheap, but $60 on newegg can get me up to 2 or 4 pretty easily. I'm stoked, and now I can crank out the member vid while I'm on my business trip this week.

So what did you guys bring home?

I chose this year to not go out as I heard this year would be more crazy than last. But had I gone, I would have tried to nab me a gps from BB for like 120.

The guy in front of me nabbed one of the Tom Tom GPS's. I had never gone out on Black Friday before, and after seeing it in person, I'd certainly care not to again. It was nuts, and it was only 5 am. People were taking it like it was life and death.

I made it to the stores around 6:30 and it wasn't all that bad. Wal-Mart was pretty quiet away from the electronics department, same as Target. Toys 'R Us seemed to have more staff than customers. Best Buy was crazy, though; didn't even bother buying anything in-store there. Anyway, not really much I was looking for this year, mostly just doing some shopping for gifts for relatives in 2008:

    - Sopranos Seasons 2 and 3, $19.99 each at Wal-Mart - Mother's Day and birthday gifts for my mother next year, respectively.
    - Deadwood Seasons 2 and 3, $42.00 each at Best Buy (online) - Father's Day and birthday gifts for my father next year, respectively.
    - Transformers Cybertron Cannonball/Downshift two-pack, $10.00 at Wal-Mart - Donated to Toys for Tots.
    - South Park Season 10, $14.99 at Target - For me.
    - 300 2-Disc Special Edition, $8.99 at Borders (member exclusive price) - For me.
    - Teen Titans Season 4 - Not on sale, but I wanted it anyway.
    - Uzumaki Volume 1
    - Discount t-shirts at Wal-Mart

It's completely insane how people act on this day. Ive gone to stores AFTER the rush and it seriously looks like the entire place was ransacked. The past couple of years, most stores, IMO, never really had anything worth while, but this year there tons of great deals. I'm not surprised it was that crazy.

Would have been nice to have gotten that gps for that price though.

In my opinion, though this year's deals aren't even very good, I still knew that today would bring out the worst in humanity. I can't stomach people out there on a day like today. Its too depressing, and then there is a home football game against Arkansas later today, meaning that though I am forced to stay home (I live about a block away from LSU), I have to deal with those obnoxious (m)asses, anyway. :thumbdown  to the world outside. . .:thumbdown  !

I wouldn't go anywhere near a store on black Friday, my patience is far too short.

I walked into Sears at 7am and bought a vacuum cleaner that had been marked down by $80. I was out of there by like 7:15. There was nobody in the store.

...but there's no way in hell that I'm going near any of the other stores today.

I just hit the online sales at Amazon last night.

They had buy 2 get 1 free on Blu Ray and HD-DVDs so I snagged:
    Unforgiven
    Total Recall
    The Prestige
    Children of Men
    Disturbia
    Lucky Number Slevin

I also snagged Rainbow Six Vegas Limited Edition at Amazon for $19

believe it or not, I'm still buying the cars from the pixar movie. I went out on a hunt for some of the "celebrity" characters. luckily, I found this pack in an overhead bin at tru. this was the first time I had ever gone out on black friday, and it was just for kicks and giggles, since I was awake anyway.

From Amazon this morning, I snagged Rainbow Six Vegas LE and Saints Row for my recently acquired 360. I would've loved to go TV DVD boxset crazy, but I already spent all my $$$ on the afore-mentioned 360 earlier this week.
