And we were told that the TFA Black Convoy were limited to 300 pieces per emporium. Apparently, these were available at MORE than one outlets so... Use your imagination.
The ONLY place I've heard about this change in plan is from Bodhar's conversation with the Takara rep. Now I do trust Bodhar, but I'm not sure if this rep knows what s/he is talking about. There could have also been some miscommunication. It could be that she meant that the event was so successful that they are going to do similar things in the future with more stores and bigger figure releases. Bodhar might have thought that to mean with the same black animated prime, but she meant another figure. I don't know. I emailed bodhar if he could elaborate some details from the conversation. As of now, we haven't heard anything official from takara. Theoretically, this is still a quantity of 300 release. We'll see...
You SURE about this? Here: The abovementioned quote was extracted from Singapore & Malaysia Toy Discussion thread.
Well, bodhar did drop his price from 250 shipped to 140 shipped, so if thats any inclination of how many are out there.....110 bucks between the price drop, and thats a pretty damn good price drop.
I don't know, i'd say this is accurate because look at what he did for instance. Everyone that paid the full 250 got a 110 dollar refund last night and he was able to secure a ton of stock because you didn't have to go thru a check out line, it was a display full of primes. Think about it, everyone likes making money right? Would you refund everyones money if you talked to someone who doesn't know whats going on? Just some random goofball employee that didn't seem knowledgable? Probably not because if that is the case, he just lost a ton of money that didn't have to be refunded. Bodhar2000 was born at night, but not last night
I actually salute bodhar for being an upstanding individual for refunding all the money to the people that bought from him. This is an uncommon act of decency on his part, and thats hard to find in this day in age from sellers. I wish I bought from him. O'well, you live and you learn I guess.
Yes... like I said, I don't know exactly what is going on. I guess we'll find out more over time. I emailed the ebay seller as well about it. I guess you can always open a paypal dispute based on the fact that the seller said "300" and in truth there will be more. However, we don't have any substantial proof that there is more besides an email or a post in a thread.
No kidding, that was a very stand up thing for him to do for every one of his customers. Its to bad i've got most of the JP transformers I want now otherwise, i'd still be buying stuff from him. I'll have to save some money and buy that Dinoking from him Good thing i'm already off to a 110 dollar head start Yeah, I don't you'll be able to win that one. Read the auction He never said only 300 will be made but that its limited to 300 units at the event. yeah it blows but you live and learn I guess. I just feel bad for the people buying 3-4 of these because they thought it was going to turn into $$$$ down the road (maybe not lol! Damn scalpers). It still might, you never know but it was an expensive lesson.
oohh... the seller is sneaky I guess you can always try to sell it back on ebay and make back what you paid and then wait for the later releases... if they happen.
Well, if your going to dump it, do it now because most people are still skeptical about future quantities about this figure. Of course, you'll have to fight everyone else that brought a ton of them.
Even if the released count is around 1000, the popularity of the line and of course a "black prime" will keep the resell relatively high. Just got to be willing to wait it out and see.
its really too soon for speculation right now. the henkei wildrider was a 1000 count toy, look how much he is now, and black prime being a lot more desirable(not to me, henkei wildrider is soo gooder) to more people, I sseel the demand far outweighing the supply....if the count is 1000 that is.
I don't know.... the only Black prime that comes to mind is Jafcon prime, which was released in 2000 and that sells for what 200 bucks MISB? I don't remember off hand how many of those were produced but the secondary market value isn't that high AND its our beloved G1 Optimus Prime toy. I brought one MIB last year for 150, so the value didn't bust the roof by any means. if you plan on getting your 250 back... get it AFA graded and sit on it for a few years. Hopefully, Animated will have a following still and maybe some collector will pay a decent amount for it. I'm sending mine to AFA just because i've always wanted to have something graded and this looks awesome Plus, when you have an extra one, the urge to open it up dies...
Thats true, hell remember Ehobby Astrotrain? I brought one for 60 and that thing ended up going for 250 loose when I decided to get rid of it on ebay. Although, its just a coin flip, you never know what is going to spark fire and become the next "OMG, TAKE MY SAVINGS" toy.
FYI - the seller was kind enough to cancel my transaction! I feel bad I had to do it, since this is the first time I've ever not wanted to complete a transaction - but this is a weird circumstance. I hope everyone doesn't contact him now and he looses out - but oh well.
