    This thing is WEIRD.

I'm constantly amazed that I still periodically hear about weird shit like this from the 80's that I never knew existed. Take note...it's not a side scroller. Mario moves from still screen to still screen. The graphics and music are awful. Mario disappears when he jumps. Just about the only cool thing about it is that the 99 life trick appears to work on any screen with a Koopa, since they just bounce off the side of the screen, or at least it looks that way.

That's almost impressive, because the video makes it look like crap. And you say it's even worse? Wow!

That must be pretty bad. The video makes it look about as much fun as a root canal.

That was horrid. My favorite part was the garbled, static-filled music that somewhat resembled the Mario theme.

Bah. Those glitches and disappearing sprites are most likely due to the emulator.

I'd be willing to bte that the original NEC PC-8801 version ran much smoother than that.

Well, imagine the video as watching a root canal.

Now, imagine playing the game as getting a root canal yourself.

That actually looks worse than Hotel Mario for the CD-i!

    How horrible.

It's a shame Hudson couldn't have made a better version of it for the PC Engine, 'cause there are some neat ideas in there. One of the worlds shown on YouTube features enemies from classic (not super) Mario Bros. Rolling barrels and falling spikes also appear as hazards.

On the bright side, it only looks maginally less entertaining then Mario Sunshine and NSMB.

Spoken by someone who's obviously never played either game cause both are awesome, no Mario 64 but still cool games.

As for the video... Looks about as fun as a swim through a pool of broken glass and lemon juice...

I'm not sure if the PC-8801 even used cartridges. I think it ran on tapes and floppies.
