Okay it is cool. But I bet I cost alot of money (helicopter camara and stuff) for what a few minutes into the movie? He could spend it on CGI of Jolt LOL
Did we kill it already? The video in the link appears to be dead. EDIT: Nevermind. My computer was hosed up. Just saw it. CRAZY.
@ 2:11 is amazing!!! New footage! I'm so glad Bay decided to go down the realism route. It looks great and the fact that the stunt was STILL filmed in 3D it the icing on the cake. I don't care what anyone says... Michael Bay is the king of action movies.
That was excellent. I hope people don't assume it's CGI, these guys put their necks out for this movie.
My understanding is that they are used for a specific purpose in the movie, relative to the story. So, yeah.
I bet those little bits of awesome new footage will be in the TV spot that is supposed to be out today or something. It was titled birdmen spot or something like that.
Ever since that filming footage we saw a few months ago, I have been eagerly awaiting more shots of this. I remember seeing those suits all the time on stuff like discovery and history channel, and thought: "how cool would that be to try it!"
Do they remind anyone else of flying squirrels? Seriously, all they need are little tails to wiggle around as they're gliding. YouTube - Flying Squirrels‏ So cute!! XD
For what it's worth, they worked it in quite well in my opinion. Spoiler! Spoiler They're used to help send soldiers in to help infiltrate the Decepticon-held city. They're small and agile targets that the Decepticons have an extremely difficult time locking onto as they're used to much larger prey.
I agree. But it will be fun, I'll go to the cinema with my Brother [a small-scale Bayhater], he'll stare at the scene, give a brief laugh of mockery and say: "Dude, so unrealistic!", I'll naturally answer: "That was actually filmed." I can't wait to see his face, man, I JUST CAN'T WAIT. And on a sidenote, this video only proves that Michael Bay is a full-blown nutball, trying to do everything INSANELY REALISTIC on a Transformer movie. I wouldn't be surprised if they tell us that Michal Bay tried to build all Transformers and make half of them murderous and other half good guys while filming the first movie.
That is some crazy-@$$ stuff from a practical standpoint, but there was one thing that caught my eye. Matthew Butler (credited as "Visual Effects Supervisor", for Digital Domain) is interviewed briefly regarding the scene, so although it may not be official confirmation, it's my guess that DD will be working on that sequence, or at least part of it. Perhaps some digital doubles, digital enhancements, camera helicopter removal and such. And of course giant falling burning Ospreys. And we even got some official shots from the film, as opposed to "just" filming. Extended Osprey falling and guys dodging the whilst flying. Nelson burn.
