Well, it looks like Metroplex has been getting all the love lately, and Fortress Maximus has taken a backseat.

I had originally gotten most of the way in a Fort-Max model around '05, but due to a hard-drive failure, I'd lost all my work, bar a concept sketch.
For a while I'd been too deflated to retrace my steps from scratch.

After enough time, I started this project, (about this time last year). While the main models took about a month to do, it's taken me this long to finish up the texturing.
Effectively working on it on weekends.

I work with dual monitors, at different ratios, so let me know if the images come out looking 'fat' or 'squashed'.
There are also some clipping issues due to a bit of a lazy rig, but I decided to move on without re-rendering as I was having fun with all the 'pew-pew' details.
Besides, I have other non-Transformers projects that need attention.

Eventually, I hope to continue the sequence.

    Thanks Acer, Superquad7, and Hype1.
I wasn't sure how well a sequential would work, so I appreciate the encouragement.

Top banana. Out of all the bananas you're the best banana. When other bananas need advice they come to you. The banana of bananas.

    That's compliments. :)

I think I have banana blindness from typing that word so much... Bananananas...

Just beautiful...and that last shot of Scorpy is outstanding. :thumb

Would love to see the whole thing with speech balloons, SFX and the like!

EDIT: Was so taken with Maxie's model/textures that I failed to notice the tiny-but-awesome jets buzzing about in each pic. Top stuff!

They're all great, but my fave is the "dusk" one...the darkness and his eyes just make him pop off the screen. Beautiful labor of fanlove you did there. :thumb  :thumb

    Great images!
Very impressive to see a real "City" bot in his gargantuan scale.

    Great job!

I am now pissed because everything else I see from now on will be a dissappointment.

Also, did anyone else notice Metroplex and Trypticon in the background of one of the pics?

As a guy who loves scale this makes me extremely happy. I love seeing just how huge these guys should be. It's one thing that separates this franchise from others.

Personally though I'm not in love with the slavish toy representation though. I would have preferred something a bit more modern but inspired by G1, ala Metroplex in Fall of Cybertron.

    Fantastic work man.

Thanks guys, I'm not entirely sure how to multi-quote, so just I'll ramble off.

    OMEGAPRIME1983:
Yeah, you really can't have one without the other, I knew I'd have to do both concurrently.

Brave Magnus: Thanks so much for the kind words.

HeroicC300: I'd love to do video, but the time and bandwidth needed are probably too much for me.

    Gingerchris: Inspiring words, thank you.
While I haven't been approached by any Bananas yet, I did plead for freedom to the king of the potato people. :)

    transformerwars: Apologies, and thanks. :D

    Sledgehammer:
To be honest, I hadn't considered any dialogue, and I'm probably not the best person for it, but thank you for the compliments. Always glad to get your feedback.

    Shadowbreaker:
Thank you, I wasn't sure if going for multiple images would spread my attention too thin on each.

moreprimeland: Thanks, I was worried the shot would seem redundant, but I'm really happy it had merit.

Sharpfinger: Scale is often a complex, and sometimes abstract, issue with Transformers.
While the objective of the exercise for me was to experiment with perceived scale, I'm glad it didn't seem preposterously huge, or disappointingly small.

    Flaming Matrix:
While I appreciate the compliment, I'm glad its not true. While I admit it's easy to be desensitised with so much great TF art the franchise and community has, I'm always impressed by the variety of perspectives.

    Ryoku:
I love interpretations and updates too. And I agree that FOC Metroplex is the perfect balance of new interpretation and familiarity.
However, for me, modeling toys like Fortress Maximus has a selfish agenda in that it basically gives me a toy I never had, to play with.

Josh: Thanks man, very much appreciated.
