the subtitles in my country made it seem like it was the plane they were referring to with "big buddha", but I myself understood it as Prime being called "big buddha". I think that sounds cool though : P

    It's just military jargon.

Thats not cool to offending other people's religion. I don't think they will like to call a robot, ''Buddha''.Buddha is their holy teacher/god. Thats not cool to use his name to a robot character.

Not when the robot character is pretty much the epitome of peace and justice? (or at least..tries to be but is involved in a violent war..and then there's the ongoing discussion of Prime's portrayal in the movie..)

Anyway, just military talk. Everybody knows who they are talking about. It's the same as 'Eagle' or whatever cool names they use.

Yeah. I'm way more offended by that than the little robot with the penis gun or dogs randomly humping. Just saying.

In all seriousness, does it really matter why he called it what he did? Just enjoy the movie and let it go. It's a military thing, we use nicknames all the time.

The exact line is: "Air Support, we need Big Buddha to deliver the drop now."

I believe this means "Big Buddha" is the plane and "the drop" refers to Optimus, as blackjkb mentioned.

I hereby request fanart of Optimus in a saffron monk's habit. Or a pic where a toy of Optimus is made to wear such a garment.

I always hear it as Big Boy. But either way, SuzyPrime is right: it refers to the plane, not Optimus.

Considering that the names of God and Jesus were misused several times in the movie, it looks like they're equal opportunity offenders.
