Big Bang theory a bust: Scientist claims there's something out there | Space, Military and Medicine | News.com.au

Not sure if this is just another way of saying: NO BIG BANG.

    Um... what?

I've gotten to the point where I don't really care what theories come up about how the universe came into being. Random Big Bang, God, multiple universes, endless time cycle, giant turtle, dimensional space marble-shooters, The Force... whatever. It means nothing to me and how I live my life, really.

    Oh, and inB4 religious discussion.

Lol that's what I thought. If that show ended...life would suck around my house for the next few months (my mom and sis are BIG fans, says the Kitty song magnet on the fridge)

Man, i was almost thinking Big Bang Theory (the show) had ended. I was about to pop the champagne cork and celebrate. Oh well. Maybe it'll end after a few more seasons.

Anyways, on topic i don't see the issue with this theory yet. There's been many more crazy ones, and at least this gives some explanation as to what happened before the big bang. It would make some kind of sense, that everything degrades to energy, as frankly energy has been shown to constantly degrade (year 12 physics would have told anyone that, apparently all forms of energy eventually degrade to heat or some other thing like that...i dunno, i never understood much about physics), and it would make sense at some point the universe would need replenishing in some way. Repeated Big Bangs...well, it'd be a bad time to be alive, i'd say. Glad i live in a time when the next Big Bang isn't likely to occur any time, if there even is a 'next Big Bang'.

Frankly what intrigues me is how this stacks up with things like the equation V = H0D, i.e the equations that likes velocity with the distance things are away from the supposed site of the big bang.

Or, alternatively i could be human and not care about something that won't happen in my lifetime. :rolleyes2

Same. I thought maybe it was sting that went on and the FBI shut down the show pending an investigation of the cast and crew.

Listen not to Offend anyone out there but there is one problem with all theories that lead up to creation. As I'm a christian I believe that God made the world. But you have to think of it there was nothing at one point. All of a sudden things appeared and life began. No no, the theories have to be wrong. Plus (people don't take this the wrong way) why spend your time with this useless topic. Why not believe that God made everything and that their is someone that rules everybody and stalks you. Your not really wasting time as of talking about this dumb theory. Plus what would you have to lose. Nothing.

I'm more interested in finding out what dark matter and dark energy are. My theory about dark matter is that it's a form of non-Newtonian fluid where it reacts stronger where gravity is higher, such as in a galaxy, versus locally, where there should be a certain amount of it around the Sun but it's not being found. I think once we figure out dark matter we can see how dark energy affects it. Once those 2 are figured out we can further map the universe and figure out why it's accelerating. And then we can figure out how it started and how it will most likely end.

So God is a stalker, ey? Wait, did he happen to sing a song called "Every Breath You Take?"

Yes, but calling God a stalker is not going to win you any converts.

Anyway, we should stop this before it goes any further. If anyone wants to talk religion, we can do it elsewhere. Let the thread be on-topic.

    Pffffffft :lolol

Anyway, back in the real world... The big bang theory is still the most accurate and repeatedly provable in simulations that there is to date. If anything, this new theory adds more questions than dismissing old ones.

What I'm missing is why weren't these circles seen before? How are they being detected in the CMB? Are these just a case of seeing shapes, like we see in clouds? Because as far as what I've seen, the CMB is pretty uniform.

Talking religion is a no no. Obviously with the subject matter, it was bound to happen sooner, rather than later.
