I'm an Astrotrain whore - I'll be double dipping.

 

Amazon Japan has a private reseller asking 4,000 ish Yen, including shipping costs (outside kanto). I have pre-ordered there, but when I get him, I will be looking at ways to remove the headmaster feature, just like Blurr, Scourge, etc. I look forward to the 3rd party solutions for this.

I don't mind the Hasbro look, but this version is astonishing.
It's simply gorgeous.

I cannot for the life of me figure out why but this figure just doesn't look good to me anymore. Initially I actually liked it quite a bit but now it's soured faster than milk.

I think it's got something to do with the facepaint and the torso

 

Oh, thats easy to fix. Just look at the sheer lack of paint on Sentinel Prime and Hasbrotrain. Takara Astrotrain looks a whole lot better. Unless you mean the mold itself. I think it looks decent personally but I've never held it in person before.

 

I would have liked to have mixed and matched the two Hastak versions of Astrotrain - an overall Takara colour scheme with Hasbro style paint apps on the legs, as well the the purple panels on the sides of them. I don't like the colour sheme of the Hasbro version's head, but the nice thing about the TR line is that there are options.

 

It's strange that it's meant to be anime accurate, yet the outside of the wings doesn't sport Decepticon symbols.

 

I don't like his winkle-pickers, like, at all! Wonder if I can tolerate some long pointed heels if I ues the train parts as his feet....

Honestly at this rate I'm going all Hasbro for TR save for Convobat for obvious reasons.

 

This deco makes the train mode look better than it did before.

 

Love it! Glad I pre-order this guy a few weeks ago and resisted the urge to grab Hasbro's version. Although I don't see paying almost double for Takara's stuff being a regular occa$ion.

 

They do. It's just kind of tough to see them at the angle it's at in spaceship mode but in train mode you can see one of them:

 

maaan this looks so good. that train mode looks like something out of the cel-shaded zelda games.

 

Nothin' some repro labels can't fix.
