all in all, I think he looks great, however the headmaster gimmick kills it for me and that is why I went with that CHUG scale 3rd party cartoon accurate Astrotrain for my boy

Now this is the Astrotrain I want. I got over how dumb his train and shuttle modes look, so seeing him in these colors makes me happy.

I've made peace with non-headmasters being Headmasters in this line. The ONLY thing holding me back so far, is the lack of chest wings. If a 3rd Party releases a set of chest wings for Hasbro and/or Takara...I'll get this in a heartbeat.

I just preordered at HLJ, more out of impulse than anything. I'm not really liking Astrotrain thus far, though I do like Sentinel Prime for what it is.

I usually prefer Astrotrain's cartoon colors to his toy colors, but for some reason I'm not really into this deco on the mold. Not sure why, but I think Hasbro's toy colors are a lot more visually striking.

Yeah, I like it for the animation accurate deco (because it is spot on), yet I feel the amount of grey on him is overpowering. Like, the entire robot mode is solid grey other than the trim and some other paint apps. They break it up but I don't know if it will look as nice in person if I'm honest. But, time will tell.

His space shuttle mode has the glass picked out. ^.^ That\'s my only complaint towards the Hasbro one.

So those things that pop up on the side of the head are to make Astrotrain look g1 animation accurate. On Sentinel Prime they seemed there just to make him look cool but here they serve a better purpose. Neat.

    Not half bad!

I still long for the day someone KOs this in Leader scale, or HasTak make a Leader class Astrotrain of their own. But I understand why they don't.

This is a phenomenally good looking toy. I might just drop the $50+ for him.

Astrotrain is one of my must-have, all-time-favorite TransFormers, because I love Space Shuttles, Trains, & Robots. He was one of my first Birthday-Gift Transformers, so this is one instance that I want to double-dip. The Hasbro one needed the train windows & Space Shuttle cockpit windows painted as well as the shuttle wing stripes. Those details are essential and Hasbro should not have cheaped-out on them. Maybe ReproLabels/ToyHax will fix that. CW SkyLynx has a better, more authentic Space Shuttle mode, but barring a possible future Masterpiece, this is the best Astrotrain that HasTak is likely to make for now. And I hope to soon own both! :D

Never cared for the cartoon-grey colorscheme, and I don't think it works on this mold. Glad the option is there for those who want it but I'll stick with the Hasbro version.

Well, I have to say he looks good. The Hasbro Astrotrain in Toy colors looks good too, but if you are going to get only one version of this mold, this is certainly the one to get.
