At 3:30 PST on Friday the 13th I'm going to be a guest on Best & Worst TV Finales - Spreecast where we are going to be talking about final episodes of TV shows. You can watch live or it will still be afterwords.

But why keep it only to there? What are some of your pics for best and worst?

The finale for the US version of Life on Mars immediately leaps to mind. Great series, horrible ending.

best Series Finale hands down is M*A*S*H's "Goodbye, Farewell, Amen". Worst I would have to think about that.

For the worst I would probably say Terminator the Sarah Connor Chronicles since it wasn't intended to be the finale and ended in a cliffhanger but then the show got canceled

I'd say Lost has to be there as one of the worst. It did a great job of giving great character moments but the season finale did absolutely nothing to answer the mysteries of the island posed since the first episode of the series nor much of the other stuff brought up since.

Well, lets just put it this way. Since watching the finale of Six Feet Under years ago, I still can't listen to Sia's "Breathe Me" without getting teary in some parts, and I'm nowhere near the kind of person who's emotionally expressive.

My favorite finale will always be Freakazoid's. The cast and even some of the crew get on stage and sing "We'll Meet Again" to us. A few of the characters even leave the stage crying. So sad yet heartwarming.
What's interesting is how aware the show was of it's cancellation. Lots of jokes based on that in the last few episodes.

Worst... I want to say Transformers G1. Season 3 ended nicely but then they ruined it with the headache-inducing "Rebirth" thing.

This. Worst for me is batman TAS. Granted it isn't the worst, It wasn't great either. (Over the edge should've been the ending)

How true...so many good series are the victim of poor ratings = shoddy series ending. :(

    Best: Newhart

Worst: LOST. Wow, the flash-sideways being nothing more than glimpses into purgatory was incredibly anti-climactic. They really could have cut them and it wouldn't have affected the story at all. I was expecting them to lead to some kind of a fail-safe, a plan B. That and among other things, I legitimately felt cheated at the end. I really can't say that about most other series that had subpar finales.

I haven't completed many shows all the way through, but Smallville's ending was a huge disappointment for me.

Granted, I only started watching at Season 10, but still.

    What happened?

I watched it religiously until about season 6 or 7 I think, but after that, real life kinda took over & I lost track. I still kept up with what was going on because I'd see it on random channels ever so often, but I don't remember how it finally ended or really much of the content after the episode where Alisha (the girl who could teleport or whatever) died.

Sorry if that spoils anyone haha.

Beyblade(don't judge me)s ending always makes me smile, granted anyone who doesn't like Beyblade would probably vomit in disgust at how awful it is, but I love it.

Worst would probably be Lost, I didn't even watch Lost that much and even I thought it was terrible.

You can't discuss bad endings without mentioning St Elsewhere.

    Best
    - Teen Titans, "Things Change"
    - Justice League Unlimited, "Epilogue" - Effectively the 'finale' for Batman Beyond
    - Beast Wars, "The Agenda"
    - Daria, "Is It College Yet?"
    - Futurama, "The Devil's Hands Are Idle Playthings" - Finale of the original run
    - Reboot, "End Prog"

    Worst
    - Almost any show that ended on a cliffhanger. I understand the point in having a hook to bring people back for another season, but writers shouldn't assume they're going to get another season. ReBoot, "My Two Bobs" is one of the worst examples I can think of. Only exception to this is when the show is intentionally ended on a cliffhanger to screw with people (Duckman, for example).
    - Almost any anime series where they run out of manga to adapt and the show just...stops, with no resolution to anything. Elfen Lied and Naru Taru would be examples of this.
    - Any show where the final episode reveals the events of the series to be a dream, hallucination or imaginary when there was no previous indication this was the case and it doesn't fit with the tone of the series.
