Be Autobloke here in everything but name. I find it either repels or endears people depending on if they've encountered me at the official movie board. Also, offer ham sammich and pie to everyone.
Just be yourself and you'll make real friends. 30,000 people here and not everyone will like you anyways. So just be you and bring what you can to the table. Also dont take things so seriously. Most people joke around but can easily be taken the wrong way becasue they forgot to put an 'LOL' at the end of their post Example 1,2 & 3- 1- These people are ******ed. < see that didnt come off very good. Someone's probably mad at me now 2- These people are ******ed < see, now Im safe, but not clear yet becasue someone's mad because I used the word '******ed' 3- These people are mentally challenged j/k <see, Now im completely safe and free from angry pm's.
#1 Get to a Transformers show. Whether it's a local gathering or a Botcon show, you have to make it to one. There's people (Starsaberj for example) that I had no idea who they were and now THE JUICE is a living legend amongst the forums all because he hung out with TFW'ers at Botcon. #2 Don't make shit up. If you think that "omg, I'll start a rumor to get popular..." is going to work, there's enough people here with REAL connections that they can find out how full of BS you are #3 Laugh. If something pisses you off, log off and forget about it. Relax, be cool, and have fun. It's Transformers, not LIFE, so don't get so wrapped up in what happens here. #4 Don't be afraid to make fun of yourself. Everyone likes to laugh at people, just becareful not to post something TOO embarassing, otherwise you'll never be allowed to forget it. (example, I peed on a laptop one Botcon because I was so drunk, and Jux drank toilet water because he was too drunk, etc.)
Just like most everyone's said. Be cool, think before posting, and try to make it to a convention or 12.
Be yourself and always read over your posts before hitting the submit reply button. Since I have joined TFW this past summer, I have met 9 members in person...we met by having "get togethers/gatherings". Most people on the board are pretty cool. I recommend on checking your region's sightings page because they could help you out finding figures if needed.
if none of this helps, give us all your MISB super-duper TFs and join the Gobot community. nah, just read a Dale Carnegie book and ignore half of it and you should be fine.
Well, we do collect toys and watch childrens' cartoons, so all signs point to yes. Hot Tips For Making Friends 1.Be antagonistic. 2.Yell about how much Beast Wars and Animated suck. 3.Ask questions that can be easily answered at tfwiki.net 4.Use Leet speak. 5.Start threads about RIBFIR or FIBRIR or FIRBY. (see what I did there?)
My suggestion? Diversify. I started out TFW2005 in the funnies section. And boy, I did make ALOT of friends there. The folks at the funnies were the ones that were supportive of my work and my storytelling and they give good and constructive comments on my weekly strips. Awesome lot, I may say. Recently after a year or so in the funnies I branched out to the Radicons and there too I got to know cool ppl (not in the flesh but via forums anyway) like Xhairs, SQ7, redline and many more.
I think a good way to make friends FAST would be to pretend that you're something to do with the upcoming movie (perhaps change your name to ParamountGuy or something like that) and start a buttload of threads hinting at spoilers, but make sure you don't post any actual pictures or info or anything. We love all that.
Are you SURE you boys aren't picky when it comes to pictures of girls, especially those who don't look attractive? Yep, just acknowledging that you're listed as one of my friends Now you know how I feel... sometimes. #1 -- I'd be lucky to attend BotCon in, say, 2012. #2 -- Luckily for me, I am an honest person, so I don't go around and try to make myself to be someone that I'm not. #3 -- Unfortunately, I do get wrapped up with all the Transformers discussions on this site. Luckily, I do forgive and forget if somebody happened to have pissed me off.
I would think being proactive with showing actual interest in becoming friends with others would be one. I fail epically with that, which should be obvious by my one friend. I swear there are lots of people on here I respect and enjoy reading posts from, I just haven't devoted time to actually converse beyond thread replies (looks like I found a New Year's resolution). Conversely, I may be percieved as a dick and no one really wants to be my friend My friends off the board would most likely suggest the latter. I also hear writing your own Transformers movie script in two days and proclaiming it to be greater than the recent 2007 movie does wonders. It will definitely get you noticed.
I'm kinda new here aswell, all the guy's here are really friendly and from my experience they're happy to answer any questions you might have (even if you think it's dumb). make friend request and take part. Is it Really that easy? *goes to find bikini photo*
