So, what do you guys think is the best way to experience Transformers? At the movies? On a television series? Or in the pages of comics?

Doing it all except I don't buy much of the comics though. I'd rather have the toys.

    Toys are a must.

Where it comes to the fiction, certain continuities are best experienced in comic form (G1), while for others, the cartoons are definitive (Beast Wars, TFA).

I voted for TV series, but toys are important too.

Toys are what makes the franchise, so I pick toys.

Comics. TV shows have to pander to kids, movies tend to barely focus on the actual Transformers, and Video Games can be awesome (WFC) or downright terrible (Quest for Convoy).

Comics however, don't always have those limitations. Sure they've got their share of problems, but when they work, they really work.

I was introduced through the Marvel comics, the original version of the fiction, and while "first" doesn't always mean "best", I'd say the Marvel continuity is the most successful version of the franchise in terms of storytelling. But really, any of the three G1 comics are worthwhile reads (IDW's run less so than the other two).

The G1 cartoon and/or the Bay films are easily the most widespread way of experiencing the franchise, though, so I'd recommend those not so much because of their quality but so you'll be able to carry on a meaningful conversation with the casual fans.

I was gonna suggest something along the line of "without pants", but then I remembered that we're a family board.

Seriously though, why limit ourselves to only one form?

Pretty much all is what I'd choose, but toys probably come higher than the others and the rest sorta goes along with it as one following mass.
I think if all other supporting media stopped I'd still be happy just collecting the toys.
