I was having a discussion with my cousin, a big Pokemon fan, about how a live-action Pokemon movie should be. I'm not much of a Pokemon fan so I don't know the history. He wasn't a fan of my ideas.

Here are some of my ideas. Don't hate
-Ash is a high school student..maybe a sophomore
-Pokemon are engineered animals gone wrong
-Team Rocket is the name of the organization doing the experiments that created the pokemon
    -Brock is Ash's college friend
-Misty is Ash's crush, though he rarely talk to her because he's scared to.
-Team Rocket does further experiments on the Pokemon to harness their powers
-Pikachu breaks free from the facility holding the Pokemon
    -Ash and Brock find Pikachu
-This move would be the first of many as an introductory film

Thats about all I have. Pretty much a reboot of the series.

I'm in no way saying these are good ideas for a Pokemon movie because I'm unfamiliar with the series.

What do the Pokemon fans on here suggest would be the best way to do a Pokemon live-action film or if it can even be done?

It's an impossible thing to do considering that there are over 600 Pokemon, each with their own rabid fanbase.

Ash would be in high school worried about the prom, bullied by Jessie and James by being called "Ass" all the time.

That would be incrediblly hard to do considering all the CGI and special affects required. Not even considering the fact that there's 600 species of pokemon each species no doubt has a healthy population. It would be too expensive. Pokemon should stay animated.

the best thing to do with pokemon is to do nothing, let it rot and die into history for no one to remember and for everyone to forget

    My Idea

Oddly, I had this idea for a live action film which is to keep to the game plot, manga and anime and make it into a coming of age movie like Stand By Me or try to make it like a live action Miyazaki movie:

A 10 year old Ash nicknamed Red (though likely played by a 12 or 13 year old actor) becomes of age and he gains his Pokemon license for his birthday which enables him to become his dream of a Pokemon master. Unfortunately, Ash oversleeps and arrives to the local laboratory and once he goes inside he finds that Oak has given all of the Pokemon away to Gary, Leaf and a unexpected trainer from Viridian City who had received Ash's Pokemon as he was late (Which would explain the plot-hole of why if Oak knew he had 4 trainers coming, he'd only have 3 Pokemon ready). Desperate, Ash gets a freshly caught Pikachu who is unwilling to listen to Ash's commands and refuses to go in his pokeball and they head to there adventures.

On route 1, Ash is having problems with catching pokemon as Pikachu is refusing to help. Ash fails to catch a pidgey by just catching it with a pokeball and a rattata with luring it with food. He then finds a spearow and throws a rock at it which annoys it and makes it evolve into a Fearow and starts attacking him. The Fearow then goes after Pikachu who is hurt which makes it fire lightning on it which forces it to flee. Ash picks up Pikachu and runs to Viridian city until he falls unconscious because of his injuries. Then Officer Jenny and her Growlie finds him and takes ash to the hospital and pikachu to the Pokemon Center.

When Ash wakes up, Jenny tells him what has happened and is willing to take him to the center. While walking, Jenny notices that two members of team rocket (Jesse and James) are being released. Jenny runs up to see what the hell is going on but it seems the heads of the KPF (Kanto Polices Force) ordered there release which angers her. the two enter a expensive SUV with Koga in the passenger seat and drives off. Jenny returns to Ash and explain that team rocket have infiltrated or have ties in every top positions of power in Kanto while walking. they reach the center where Pikachu who is fully healed is still indifferent to Ash. Ash is then taken to the edge of the city and Jenny gives him her police number on his pokedex and leaves.

While in the Viridian Forest, Ash is trying to catch a caterpie until a scyther knocks him to the ground. Pikachu is scared and does not attack but a wild bulbasaur saves them. To ash's surprise, the Bulbasaur is calm, very loyal and is willing to be caught. Later that night, a pidgeotto starts to steal his food. He gets bulbasaur to grab it with vine whip then sprays it with leech seed to weaken it. Ash captures it which annoys pikachu who shocks him which in turn annoys Ash.

When he arrives in Pewter City he notices a gym and enters it. He is welcomed by the Gym Leader Brock who notices pikachu and his annoyance of Ash but Ash wants to challenge him which he accepts. at the central arena of the gym, Ash sends out pidgeotto while Brock sends out geodude. Pidgeotto dodges geodude's punches and blows it to the ground but geodude punches pidgeotto to the ground in turn. Ash sends out bulbasaur to who takes down geodude which then Brock sends out Onyx who takes down bulbasaur. Ash throws Pikachu and Brock reluctantly orders Onyx to bind him. Pikachu shocks Onyx with no effect but sets off the sprinklers which knocks out Onyx. Brock gives him the Boulder Badge for sheer dumb luck and Ash heads out. He heals his pokemon and heads off to route 3.

Ash, while walking to Mt. Moon sees a girl with a Staryu fighting a Gyarados. Ash runs to help with his Bulbasaur and sprays it with poison powder and then Pidgeotto to scratch its eyes while Staryu uses its water gun and swift. It gets weaken and the girl catches it. She tells Ash that her name is Misty (also ten) and she is heading back to Cerulean City which Ash states he's going there and that they should go together. She agrees and they both go to Mt. Moon.

In Mt. Moon, Ash and Misty get lost and find a squadron of team rocket lead by Koga digging for fossils and hurting Clafairys. The two attack and free the clafairys then collapse the cave in front of the TR. Once out of Mt. Moon, Misty notices that Ash took a piece of amber with a small bone in it (If you've played the games you know what this is) and head to Cerulean.

At Cerulean City, Ash and Misty head to the gym. Ash thinks Misty is another trainer who is going to challenge the gym leader but when they get there he finds out that she is the gym leader. She says she'll fight him in the morning and he can sleep in the guest room. That night Ash trys to have pikachu to respect him but anything he does, pikachu rejects. Meanwhile, Koga and his goons get freed from the cave and order his men to find out who those kids were.

The next day Ash and Misty start the battle with Ash sending out Bulbasaur and misty sends out Staryu. Staryu hides in the water but bulbasaur pulls her out with vine whip but staryu uses swift then Bulbasaur uses headbutt. Bulbasur is eventually defeated which then Ash sends out pidgeotto who uses wing attack which knocks out Staryu so Misty sends out Starmie. Starmie easily defeats Pidgeotto which forces Ash to use Pikachu but then Team Rocket infiltrate the gym and capture Ash, Misty and Pikachu.

They find themselves in a cell in a base on route 24 were Koga tells them that it was a mistake to mess with Team Rocket and tells them they are going to be silenced. After they leave, Misty sends out Polywhirl from a hidden pokeball from her armpit who takes down the cell and get there gear back from the guards in the other room. Ash contacts Jenny and tells her what has happened who then contacts the Cerulean police and get her pidgeot and flys there herself.

Ash realizes that Pikachu isn't there and finds that it is being tortured by Koga and his men. Ash with no useable pokemon, attacks them and gets a direct hit from a ryhorn headbutt. Pikachu sees this and in a moment of realization helps Ash and starts listening to his commands. They defeat the goons but Koga sends out Venomoth and is about to attack but the police barge in and arrest him and the goons. Koga sates that he'll get out and that Ash and Misty are now enemies of Rocket and should watch themselves as they will be hunted down. Ash thanks Jenny and then challenges Misty to a gym battle.

Back at the gym with all of there pokemon fully healed, Ash easily defeats Misty with Pikachu and gets the Cascade Badge. As Ash leave Cerulean City to route 5, he sees a Ho-Oh in the air which vanishes when he looks back to see Misty running towards him stating they'll be safer together and that she has always wanted to see all of Kanto. Ash agrees and they walk together into the woods in which the film ends.

    Running time: 2h 15-30mins

    So what do you think?

Not necessarily, the Harry Potter films started out as kids films and the were about two and half hours long.

Gretnablue its not bad , but one question , why Koga as the main villain and not Giovanni?

Koga to the best of my knowledge has never been portrayed as a Villain in Pokemon and as everyone knows Giovanni was the original main bad guy.
