Some molds have been used over and over again, and the variety of toys we've received from that one mold (sometimes with or without a remold) have been pretty sweet. Just wondering, which mold and its series of redecos have people enjoyed the most? For the purposes of this thread, I'm thinking a mold with at least four or five distinct uses, not something's been used only two or three times. Here are my candidates. Probably would have to throw in the Classics Prowl and Classics Sunstreaker molds. Those have been reused to very good use as well. Good list overall I'd say. Although the Unicron mold I'd say doesn't quite fit, as that's mainly been reissued with mostly just updated paint jobs as opposed to being retooled or redone for another character.
I agree with pretty much everything you listed. I'd just like to add Classics Voyager Prime and RTS Jazz.
TFP Vehicon and AM Jet Vehicon would be it for me. Both look different in vehicle mode, yet transforms nearly the same and have pretty much the same robot mode.
Unicron suffers from the 'same figure' syndrome. His 1 retooled head aside, he is invariably the exact same figure. I went for black unicron in my collection over the others because I'm a sucker for a black repaint, and I can't see myself wanting another model of the exact same character just in a different colour.
Almost voted for RotF Prime, but had to go with Tracks. Why? Because I have four of that mold and you have to squint to tell. It works great as everyone who it's supposed to be!
I got to give to Wheeljack(Tracks was the remold). The repaints actually feel like the other characters they represent rather than the normal routine we get, like Springer for example. Never had a figure that just screamed "that's Springer" to me.
Classics Deluxe Seekers. I don't think there's been a bad repaint of that mould (in fact, every subsequent use surpasses Classics Starscream IMO).
Agreed. Every use of the mold is excellent. Several months ago I created a digital illustration to show how the mold could be used to create Backstreet.
Seekers are pretty much a given since the g1s were the same mold, so I am going to agree with wheeljack since although only runamuck and runabout were of the same mold, hastak was capable of making 5 excellent representations of g1 characters with it
While I love TFA Optimus and ROTF Leader Optimus moulds to death and have variety of them, I voted for G1 Seekers as there are also variety of characters, as well as ghost Starscream (and I prefer G1 moulds to Classics
I gotta go with Tracks too. I'll admit I had some nerdrage when we found out Wheeljack was going to be a Tracks remold instead of getting his own unique mold but I ate crow as soon as I saw just how MUCH remolding was done to it. It works incredibly well. Runabout and Runamuck work excellent as well. And I really like the Botcon repaint as well (aside from that stupid SG insignia). Classic Seeker mold is a close runner up. It's a pretty weak mold but absolutely I love all the releases of it, even the Bootleg ones.
I'll go with the G1 Seekers since it's kind of the grand daddy of repaints. Seems like a simple idea now, but at the time it was a pretty crazy idea that you could make the repaint of a design into a whole new character.
