Its g1 blitzwing if your into a triple changer with uncompromised vehicle modes.

Powermaster optimus prime if you just want a toy that looks completely different across its three modes. (base/Optimus Prime, Truck with Trailer, and combined Powermaster Optimus Prime)

I liked playing with that one as a kid. So maybe that's more of a case for a triple changer that has solid play value in changing three times.

    Six Shot.

    No, wait...

I mean Sandstorm. Mentioning Blitzwing or Astrotrain seems to be the 'in' thing to do but really I feel Sandstorm works better. His alt modes look very different to each other while still being good representations of those vehicles, and you don't need a track for a train mode to make useful sense. And his robot mode is nice too. Pity he doesn't get much love these days. Really should've appeared in TF:Animated.

Of course, these days there are so many TFs with third modes that there are some choices not as immediately obvious when someone mentions triplechangers. I quite enjoy Energon Scorponok sometimes too. Or Jetfire's Gerwalk mode.

I love Grimwings choice of Powermaster OP. I personally wish I had a G1 Springer, but I love Blitzwing, always wanted one. That's also why Animated Shockwave is so bad a--. A tank that turns into a crane that can carry a blue cube, AND a double agent figure?

Let's face it, when you get more than 2 modes out of your figures, it's always a win.

No, it's still true. You just have to throw even harder.

I'd say Universe Tankor, but like others, that's more because I don't have any G1 stuff ^_^

    G1 blitzwing for me
And G1 SandStorm is a VERY nice toy. The toy itself is better than Blitzwing.

Animated Lugnut. His plane and bobot mode are awesome, but that scorpion mode is off the charts. :lol

Echoing the Doubledealer, Apeface and Snapdragon love.

Though I do love TFA Blitzwing. Even with his never-gonna-get-off-the-tarmac jet mode.

I agree with Doubledealer. His bird mode rules. Although, I dont like his head too much because its got that dip in the middle for his rocket in alt mode.

    a

I love the Decepticons, Universe Classics 1.0 Astrotrain whatever you want to call him is Awesome!, when the wave hit I did not want prime or bee, I was looking for him ever since I had seen the protos.

I did not even know the Autobots had triple changers, until I bought the G1 movie again and looked it up online, I have said it before the Decepticon triple changers have a much better PR department.

For G1, it's Astrotrain and Sandstorm for me.

For the rest of the lines, I really like Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron. I know the jet mode looks a lot like the car mode, but it still looks pretty badass to me!

The G1 toys still hold up fairly well in all three modes, unfortunately they're not as fun since their bricks in robot mode. My votes go to Classicverse Astrotrain and Octane since a) they have articulated robot modes b) two alt modes that may not be perfect but can be distinguished from each other and look fairly decent and c) great updates to the original toys and characters. I'm still hoping for a Universe 3.0 Blitzwing to make up for the terrible Animated version.

I like the character of G1 blitzwing but I think Snapdragon has the better toy.

    imho snapdragon looks too bulky

astrotrain is nice and refined, and actually looks like a train and a shuttle in his alt modes unlike the 87 onwards tf's that look bulky..

Universe Astrotrain is all kinds of awesome.
