Hey, so I'm starting to collect TF toys and I was wondering what TF's you would reccomend, or are your favorite, that have a Jet Alt mode, or any flying alt mode for that matter. I'm a fan of pretty realistic alt modes that transformer into good robot modes (Alternity Convoy-esque). Hope to hear some suggestions!

Hmm, realistic jets, you say. Why not browse what's out there? Here's all known combat jet modes (based on real-world planes):

And here's all jets, realistic or otherwise:

    And here's all flying vehicles:

    I hope that's helpful!

If you're looking for a realistic jet alt mode...look no further than Masterpiece Starscream/Skywarp/Thundercracker.

Thanks dudes, the databases are very helpful I was looking for something like that, and MP starscream looks fantastic I had no idea. I'd like to know what your personal favorites are as well.

Though I don't own the mold myself, I hear a lot of great things about the Classics seeker mold (Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Thrust, Dirge, Ramjet, Acid Storm).

Though not necessarily a realistic jet, Universe Cyclonus is incredible.

Also really really fond of the Animated Jetfire and Jetstorm 2 pack, though admittedly their jet modes (both separate and combined) aren't the greatest.

Actually, I second this. Along with Classics Skywarp, the Henkei TC/Skywarp, these things are fairly "realistic" looking from a decent number of angles if you don't want to shell out over a $100 on one single TF (although the Henkei TC/Skywarps come close).

There's also an F-35 Transformer movie toy coming out as well that I am sure will have at least 1 more repaint that looks pretty darn good. The MP's come closest to ultra-real though. But if you're on a budget, or/and want to get a few jet transformers, then Classics/Universe wouldn't be too bad (unless you looked directly underneath, or to the side).

Although not "realistic" looking, I really enjoy Universe Powerglide's jet mode, but he is by no means accurate to the real Warthog.

G1 Jetfire. Its a beast of realism in Jet mode. See if you can find a jetfire without accesories for cheap. I think you'll be inpressed by the detail, spring loaded landing gear, die cast weight, and adjustable wings for supersonic flight. The articulation is also fantastic for a g1: Arms swivel and pivot up, head rotates, lasers rotate, legs bend at the knee, foot, and upper leg.

My favorite is obviously G1 darkwing. But he's much harder to find.

What about Rotf Ransack? I've only seen backing card pics of hime, but i thought his biplane mode was decent. Mind, i don't have him and i'm no expert on biplanes.

You can't go past MP Screamer, especially the grey version if you want realism. Classics Starscream is also good, though less realistic.

WARNING: MP Screamer has a problem with his wing joints. Some have a tendency to break even during their first few transformations. It a bit hit and miss, i got one that's fine, but i don't dare transform him anymore than the one time.

For flying machines alt modes (their bot modes aren't the bestest):
    TFTM Blackout
    TFTM Incinerator
    TFU Blades
    TFU Seekers (spot on)

    if G1 jetfire is suggested,
    then classics Jetfire/TFU TreadBolt.

There are quite a few others.
personal fave is G1 Blades. UH-1 FTW

It's not realistic to earth, but it is to cybertron. I really like universe Dirge's jet mode.

I agree with Masterpiece Starscream/Skywarp/Thundercracker as the best jet TFs.
    Runners-up:
    Classics Seekers
    Universe Stormcloud/Powerglide
    Classics Jetfire/Universe Tread Bolt
    Universe Darkwind/Silverbolt
    G2 Dreadwing/Smokescreen (or Dreadwind/Smokejumper)
    TRU exclusive Movie Jetstorm

    Upcoming:
    RotF Voyager Starscream
    RotF Leader Jetfire
^ Can't get more realistic than those two as far as alt. modes go, aside from the Masterpiece Seekers

Have to go with Classics Seekers. Wicked bot modes, excellent jet modes, and are overall just near perfect toon-to-toy representations.

Masterpiece Seekers are phenominal in jet mode, but unfortunately their shitty bot modes kill the chance to get an A+ rating imo.
