okay im getting RID Scourge here in a day or so im so happy to be getting him too. and from what ive heard hes referred to as the best repaint ever. so what im askin is if Scourge was never made...than what would be the best TF repaint/remold ever? id have to say Classics 2.0 Sideswipe and Botcon 07 Dirge
i always loved the g2 paint deco of sideswipe as a kid. but in todays world, id have to go with scourge also. i like all the nemesis prime repaints too though. so i think my opinions biased :/. that scourge is a win for sure though!
I think there's something to be said about how clever the repaint is as well as how cool it looks. I mean ever since the "evil alternate universe" episode of Star Trek it's been easy to imagine the hero made into a villain, despite how cool Scourge looks. The best repaints are the ones that make you forget a toy used to be a different character. Look at Cybertron Red Alert, repainted twice. Crankcase is nice, but looking at the form, the head, he reminds me of Red Alert. Cannonball, on the other hand, is a dramatic difference and a really nice repaint, he's easy to see as more than a repaint. There's others like Tele Beast Wars BlackArachnia, who fixed the enormous mess made when the original version didn't look a thing like the character, and such long sought after repaints like that are always great, too. The best ever though? Has to go to one of the originals, with colors that became iconic of the Decepticons - Skywarp. Black and purple, you don't get much more classic. If a Starscream mold is cast, Skywarp's always the repaint in demand for it. Looking at other molds, Beast Machines Jetstorm, came in four different colors before being made into Skywarp, easily the best colors the mold ever got, and when it's not used for a Starscream mold, it's the most missed.
Universe Sideswipe is pretty impressive, although that's partly because he was always intended as a repaint of Sunstreaker so the mold was designed for it. I know I'm really looking forwards to Blades, if that's any help.

damn is that black fire convoy a lucky draw? im still a newb in that area and i have had little to no idea about them. how do you even get any of them?
When you referred to universe Sideswipe and Sunstreaker I was thinking of the old repaints of RID Mach Alert/Prowl. I've been having the same problem when people talk about Universe Silverbolt.
Honourable mention to Constructicon green Universe repaint of RID Landfill. Best Constructicon toys ever even if they are 2 short.
Huh, forgotten about them. Never thought the mold really suited them, tbh. And I don't think Blades is out in the UK yet, unless you're willing to pay silly money to people for an imported one.
Universe Classics 2.0 deluxe Sideswipe or Silverstreak, get my vote for best repaints ever. Sideswipe because he is a repaint yet retains his asthetic and was designed to do so. The same mold being able to look so different in robot mode is a huge win imo. As for Silverstreak (Bluestreak) he's awesome just because at least he was an original character as well...his paint scheme looks cool, and he's not just some repaint for repaints sake. Unlike the Universe voyagers...or any other repaints...I usually loath repaints. But the Z triplets are a different story..and I'll be getting Smokescreen when he shows up as well.
If Awesome is in the same sentence, they are talking about the new Universe Silverbolt. If the word crap is in the same sentence, they are talking about the Beast Wars repaint.
