I don't know if gestalt's count but G1 Predaking is one badass toy. My personal favorite is Soundwave but for simply a cool looking figure, Predaking takes it.

    RiD Prowl, HELL YEAH!

I have a new favorite...RiD Ultra Magnus. I love this figure. I just finally got one.

I also love any Machine Wars jets.

Quite an original thread we have here.

But anyway, I agree with simplygriff that Predaking is one of the most accomplished designs in the long history of Transformers. But there are so many good 'uns that it's hard to single out a particular toy. Off the top of my head, I think Classics Jetfire deserves to be mentioned here. (And screw people who complain about his balance; I've never had any problems with mine.) I guess what makes him such a stand-out is the sheer amount of attention to detail Hasbro lavished on him, ranging from his Macross helmet, his double-barreled rifle, his G2 swing wings, and his stylish G1 Jetfire/Skyfire mix.

Having said that, there are still plenty of upcoming TF's that may very well take the top spot. I'm particularly looking forward to getting my hands on Animated Ultra Magnus, Universe Cyclonus and Henkei Ironhide. And please, Hasbro, get Samurai Prowl out in time for Christmas!!

Cybertron/Galaxy Force Opitmus with his big guns super mode, savage claw mode, and sonic wing mode.

Plus, one of the few Transformers which I hear the voice coming out of him.

RID Gestalats, or anything classics but the seekers or Grimlock.
Most of animated as well. It's hard to pick just one when balancing out the articulation, poseability, unhindered movement, and unobtrusive action features.
Basicly that knocks the majority of energon, armada, and cybertron out. Along with Most of G1. Leaving predominately the choices between classics, animated, RiD, and BW.
BM I knock out cause of less than stellar show accuracy. BW I personally knock out cause I'm not a fan of beasts. RiD has a bit of hit or miss cept in the gestalts, while prime is favored by most, his partsforming yields his 'award' to someone more deserving like the build team and train team.
Classics Seekers have there legs and arms hindered by the wings and design.
And grimlock is kinda fugly mixed with hindered legs.

So that leaves me with most of the animated deluxes (can't stand Voyager prime), the rest of classics that aren't hindered(including universe 2.0), and the RiD gestalts.

Masterpiece Optimus Prime/Convoy hands down. Though its not the most challenging to transform (MP Megatron), its the epitome of Transformers to date. Prime is the paradigm example of Transformers, that and he's PRIME.

Universe Razorclaw is my personal favorite and the prize of my collection. Rationale:

    - Excellent aesthetic - Looks fierce in both modes, with plenty of sculpting detail and character to the beast and robot forms. The black, purple and dark red colour scheme is laid out very well and the silver highlights (back when Universe was doing the "Energon radiation" bits on the colour schemes) add to the appearance of the figure.
    - Great articulation in both modes. All the joints that one would hope would have some range of motion move very well and the figure can take on lots of poses.
    - Transformation is complex, but not frustrating, and unique.
    - Gimmicks and weapons - Multiple, unobtrusive features and gimmicks that just make the toy fun: Four spring-loaded missile launchers, two missiles that can be used as melee weapons, snapping talons, spring-loaded gimmicks in the wings, "battle helmet" for beast mode and probably one or two other things I'm forgetting.

    Honourable mentions:

    - Beast Machines Terranotron
    - MP Optimus Prime
    - Armada Unicron
    - Armada Nemesis Prime

i'm a sucker for alternators. it was the line that got me into transformers. alt smokescreen, jazz, and mirage takes the cake in that category. classics are my lean-ons now that alts are dead. classic prime, mirage and sunstreaker are up there. and a miss for most people, but a hit for me is Hybrid Prime, he's on par with MP prime for me, simply because he is so tiny, i'm a sucker for intricate little transformers. oh, and animated prowl, for being the cleanest TF in both modes.
