'Ey! You callin' me a liah? I'll break ya ahm in half like a fresh biscotti from the bakery on 51st street. Best in the city.

:p  Well, maybe that could fly with the mafia.

A bunch of studies have proven that NYC is actually one of the least crime ridden cities.

I'm due for another day trip to NYC (I go a few times a year). For me, I'm still finding new places and will have to check out Anime image and Midtown comics next time I go.

As far as crime, I've only walked around Manhatten during daytime hours, but never once felt unsafe (I've felt more unsafe in Philly, honestly).

For transportation, there's the MTA. They operate the buses/subways in NYC.

    Website is MTA Home Page

They offer 'fun passes' which gives you unlimited rides on buses/subways for a day for $7.50 (compared to $2 per pax one way..it adds up quick when sightseeing).

There are, of course, the (in)famous Yellow Cab of NYC, they are plentiful and will get you to where you need to go, but the fare's quite pricey (a 15min. ride can cost you over $17.00 if you include a tip).

For more info, visit NYC TAXI Online : YellowCabNYC.com

For other info, NewYork.com is a good site for finding attractions, places to eat, nightlife, Broadway shows, etc.

Hope you have fun in NYC!

You could go to the fire museum on Spring St. They have a lot of good stuff there (including a picture from a fire that my dad was at).

From what I hear, Katz's Deli. The Pastrami and Corned beef are top notch.

People have mentioned the Natural History Museum (Check out the blue whale while there), but the Met's worth a visit too. For photo-ops, you might want to visit the lions at the NYPL main building as well.

I go to ImageAnime all the time and just to let you guys know, they are incredibly over priced and they don't have much of a big Transformers collection.

The Central Park Zoo is also great. They don't have much, but they do have some neat animals, such as penguins and Polar Bears.

To add to this, they really don't have much going on for Transformers, but do have a buttload of Japanese mecha stuff, including tons of models. Also, the prices are on the high side, but some stuff isn't bad, coming out to be not much more than ordering from HLJ and paying the shipping.

I would also recommend the Elizabeth Street mall in Chinatown. It's underground and has alot of cool stuff, and cheaper than Image Anime as well. Elizabeth Street is pretty small, so if you get there it should be easy to find.

It's always crowded and smelly in there. Don't go in without nose plugs, the same for Midtown comics.

I had an awful experience in New York, but the Hard Rock and TRU were highlights!

What happened? Was it NY related, or something personal?

We just booked the Statue of Liberty tour.
