So, out of the resident pros here, what's your favorite method of paint removal?
I've tried some testor brush cleaner (didn't do much) and some Jasco remover (melted the plastic real quick) so I need something in between.
    much appreciated.

I have a friend who paints Battletech mini's and and he has told me a bath of Pine-Sol takes the paint of. I don't know how well it works on TFs though.

If its a Transformers Classics, alcohol works great at taking the paint off.

If its metal, then some sanding and paint thinner should work.

Paint Thinner + Plastic = Bad

What type of alcohol works? I've never had much luck with it. I've used paint thinner which had worked ok so far. Only damage I had was fogging up some clear plastic... Otherwise ok.

I just used isopropyl alcohol, I think 98%. Its the red bottle. Worked great.

Isopropyl works well, but methanol (sold as "denatured alcohol" at Lowe's) will take the paint off more quickly, and neither of these chemicals will hurt the plastic.

An old model car trick is to use automotive break fluid. Won't hurt most plastics, plastic is in the master cylinder of you car. Only problem, it's a pain in the butt to get clean afterwards.

I tried 90% Isopropyl on Classics Megatron's ankle circles, and could'nt get that gold to budge. It worked well getting paint off paint though, (Alt Ricochet's cheesy flames for example)

Im gonna try that methanol / denatured alcohol stuff, it sounds like a winnah
    (thanks fs)

Soaking the parts in oven cleaner will strip the paint off and not hurt the plastic parts.

I'll have to try that one.

Soaking in methanol helps to remove it with a little less elbow grease as well.
