Actually, I'm kind of surprised how many people are NOT voting Welker for Megatron. Honestly, while Cullen nailed everything about Optimus for me, Welker's Megatron never really took hold on me.

Yeah... he does a good job, but it's not the same. In fact TFA Prime is closer to Primal in terms of the basic character concept and portrayal.

I'm all about Cullen as Prime. No question.

For G1 Megatron, Corey Burton has just the right mix. Grim, ironic, never foolish... TFA Megatron is in many ways what G1 Megatron always should have been.

David Kaye's BW Megatron was great, no question, but really a different character... more cartoonish, almost vaudevillian.

And I just have to make an Honorable Mention for Leonard Nimoy's Galvatron. That rocked so much harder than Welker's much more irritating take.

Optimus Prime-Peter Cullen. Let's face it the man's voice just excudes authority and wisdom.

Megatron-Frank Welker. Frank Welker is basically a god of the voice actor world. His Megatron voice is the original and still the best.

Runner Up: Burton for Megatron. I hate Transformers Animated and it is a horrible LOOKING (not sounding) show. That said Corey Burton does a great job as the voice of Megatron. The best since Welker. That is why I say the writers and voice actors of TFA should do the next Transformer show. Just not the artists or their designs.

 

Honestly, I have liked everyone who has voiced both characters. My favorites are Cullen as Prime and Kaye as Megatron.

 

Welker and Cullen. I grew up with that, it wouldn't matter if someone actually did do a better job, those were the guys who defined the characters for me.

Cullen and Welker for me because they make their characters sound like war vets.

 

Definitely Peter Cullen for Optimus Prime.

And definitely David Kaye for Megatron (Beast Wars Megatron that is).

Although I do like both of the R.I.D. VAs' take on their characters.

For Megs...I'm almost leaning towards Burton instead of Welker now. I just wish they weren't such different deliveries.

I liked RiD's actors for Prime and Megs. I liked Chalk and Kaye for BW, and BM, but someone else imo should have taken over in the series that followed RiD

 

Cullen and Welker have to be given props as Prime and Megs, plain and simple. Although I enjoyed Neil Kaplan as Prime in RID and David Kaye as his various Megatrons. I also have to say i really liked Hugo Weaving as Megatron in the movie. I might get a lot of flak for that, but hey its just my opinion.

Cullen. Prime is a no-brainer for me. Primal is a different character. Though I prefer Kaplan over Chalk for anime Op.

Megatron I just can't decide, they're all equally wonderful 'cept Riorden who I just find completely forgetable. Though I've really been leaning to Burton lately.

 

^ This, Primal shouldn't have even been on that page. Cullen trumps Chalke for the other versions of Prime though.

As for Megatron, same deal for BW Megatron, not the same guy. However, I never watched enough of G1 to gain a real appreciation for Welker, I really enjoy Burton's take on Animated Megatron though. So he gets my vote.

Dan Rather. seriously. at his age, his voice is smooth, friendly and still has charm.
He'd even be a hoot as Ironhide or Kup, IMO.
But until we get "Eye on Prime"...Cullen and Welker all the way.
