I'm looking for a good G1 Starscream, but after looking at all the options available, I'm not sure which one to get. Price is a factor or else I'd splurge for a Masterpiece Starscream. How and where can I get a good bang for my buck on a G1 Starscream?

    Classic, Henkei or Universe 2.0.

Do some research and if you decide you want a Classics one I have one I'm willing to sale :)

    Encore.

Masterpiece Starscream is alright, I frankly like the Henkei figure more.

Of the options, I'm a BIG fan of the Universe 2 Starscream (which featured a more cartoon accurate color set), though any version of the classic mold is pretty darn good.
There is also the Dreamwave box reissue which featured the original toy with new show accessories (and maybe a show deco, not sure on that).

I would get the Henkei, but if you are on a budget, check out Edbomber.com. He is selling the Encore G1 for $30. I probably buy it next month if it is still available and for that price.

I'm not sure if you're looking for G1 Starscream the toy or the character. If it's the toy, I'd recommend TFC-09, as have a couple of other people already. This is the one that comes with the cartoon-accurate deco, the handheld Megatron gun and the extra G1 Optimus Prime fist so the leaders could team up!

It's not pictured but this Megatron gun can also attach to the bottom of the seeker jet mold for vehicle mode action. The little blue tabs visible on the left of the grip will peg into the nipple hole on Starscream.

Now that is a very compelling choice! I must research this one!

And either toy or character would be good - I once owned the original toy that I got from Sears but have no idea what happened to it. Just want to have a Starscream again.

I'm fricking in love with Universe Starscream. It gets his dark face right. Sure it's blocky, but I couldn't imagine replacing it.

Robot Master is probably the most toon accurate toy out there. Not the best Starscream toy, I'd give that to Classic/Henkai Starscream, but if he only had knees he'd be one great toy!

That G1 toon version looks quite nice though, put probably quite pricy as well.
