I am serious considering buying a figure or two from the alt/Binaltech line(s) and I am wondering which one would be a good first step into them given some of them can be tricky to transform.

    so any suggestions?

Alt Hound or one of the other Jeep figures.

Meister/Shockblast is a cool mold. I really like Wheeljack/Grimlock, but many hate him because he's a challenge to transform. Skids is also quite fun, but not the most exciting vehicle.

I'm not a big fan of the Jeep mold, myself. I think the legs and feet look crappy.

WRX mold is my favorite. RX8 a close second.

I like the RX8 better because they're practically the same mold, but the RX8 has an extra step in the leg transformation and the arms are easier to get in place in alt mode.

Hound or Swindle, the jeep mold - for an Alt/BT that's actually fun to transform due to it's simpler transformation.

Tracks or Swerve(if you can afford him), Corvette mold - same deal, but slightly more complicated transformation.

Sideswipe, Sunstreake, Jazz, Shockwave, Windcharger, and Decepticharge(aka Drag Strip) are good molds too. Not easy as pie, but not super complicated either.

Hound/Swindle/Rollbar is probably one of the easier molds for those new to Alternators. The figure is pretty straightfoward and has good articulation. The WRX Smokescreen is also a good choice.

Personally I think Mirage was the best of the line. Perfect combination of a good design/transformation and the better sculpts that began happening about halfway through the line.

Jazz is probably the best designed of the entire line (complete car interrior, very few visible seams anywhere, almost no sign of robot parts), but his sculpt is terrible. Most of the early figures have poor sculpts/robot details.

I'm by no means an expert of Alternators/Binaltech, so I might be terribly misinformed, but I think that Skids was pretty damn common (at least, he shelfwarmed quite a bit at my Wal-Mart), so he might be pretty cheap and therefore you might want to start with him.

WRX or RX-8, either on of those molds.

    Car wise, Shockwave/Shockblast looks awesome.

I personally think Mirage is the best of this line. He has the best Alt mode, and Bot mode. Jazz and Shockwaves RX8 are a close second for me.

I recently completed my alternators line and I believe:

Mirage is the best, but meister or jazz with the reprolabels becomes the winner

A close call but then shockwave/shock blast

I'm the only one but I also love tracks

A figure or two? That's a good one. I said the same thing 25-30 ago.

The Corvette Z06 is the best vehicle mode ever. The Ford GT blends a great vehicle with arguably the best robot mode. As many others have already said, both the Mazda and the Suburu are pretty fun to tinker with too, with the slight edge going to the Mazda (plus Jazz and Shockwave are great characters) . You really can't go wrong with any of them; it just depends on your personal tastes.

I think you should just buy the entire line...$500 + shipping and it's yours. Prime and Silverstreak are the BT versions. Swerve and Nemesis Prime are still MISB. And I'll throw in BT Arcee and Bluestreak. Anyone?

Thanks for all the suggestions, and Kibble thanks for the offer but i don't usually have $500 at a time to drop on Transformers.

I think I will be going with Hound or one of his repaint. Failing that Tracks.

My vote goes for the WRX mold. I sold all my Alts, but couldn't bring myself to get rid of Smokescreen.

don't get any of the Seekers. i made that mistake by getting Starscream as my first alternator. even though i don't have them, i'd say one of the jeep molds
