I'm really not hip on giving my three-year old a realistic looking gun toy (translation: I'd really rather not get nagged to death by my wife about it), so that unfortunately means Classics is out . . . even though I think the bot mode is fantastic.

I have the green tank Megatron from the two-pack, but he's a little small in scale, particularly since we've gotten Classics Prime and the Powered Commander armor. I think it's a stretch to even call him a Deluxe; he's just barely larger than the Brawl/Blast Off mode from the Bruticus Maximus set.

So what, in your opinion, is the best Megatron mold? What's your favorite?

You can't go wrong with Animated Leader Megatron (well, aside from the sticky paint on the cockpit, but mine hasn't really had that problem). He's large (certainly bigger than Powered Commander, but the bad guys always look better when bigger), he's got two great modes, the sound gimmick actually makes the toy better without being annoying, and he's got swords in addition to the large fusion cannon.

Oh, and transformation is very simple for a Leader class but it is a clear demonstration of how a little can go a long way in transformations.

to be quite honest megatron has different persona's from 1984 thru 2010.
so to pick one favorite megatron from 26 years worth of different persona megatron toys makes no sense.

I Prefer to do the following:

Favorite G-1 Megatron persona toy mold:
my favorite is the Masterpiece Megatron toy mold.

    Favorite beastwars/BM Megatron toy mold:
my favorite is the Transmetal 1 megatron toy.

Favorite alternate universe megatron persona toy mold from Rid,AEC,Animated
    & live action movies:
my favorite is animated leader sized megatron's toy mold.

By the time Headmasters came around in the early 90's I was getting out of toys, and I didn't really start getting back into Transformers until 07 - when I got the movie and a son. ;)

I had the G1 Megatron for a time and I loved it. But maybe he's a little short by todays standards. You can say he has a napoleon complex and that's why he's so dramatic. Actually he's probably a good size next to the classics seekers. Of course child safety rules him out.

BW TM Megatron, while only a namesake, is a flawless mold. But you can't put him on your shelf and imagine him leading the Decepticons. His arms will also break off if you look at them funny, so he's also not a good choice for kids.

I've never had any others so i can't rank them.

I've always really loved the original Beast Wars T-Rex Megatron toy.

    Animated Leader Megatron is fantastic.

Masterpiece Megatron is also amazing... but I guess you won't have any need for that one lol.

TFA Megs, obviously. Also; props for the mention of season one BW Megs.

Also; RID Megs. I swear, the alt modes that guy has are amazing (GIANT HAND, PEOPLE). Not to mention, there's just something about the purple/black/gold color scheme with its hint of red that says "SUPREME EMPEROR". He looks like Cybertronian royalty.

Also, looking back to the start of this thread...

I may take some flak for this one, but...ROTF Leader Megs? I mean if we're talking about a Megatron for a kid here, then that one may not be too bad. The missile's a concern, but that's easy enough to store elsewhere until he's a bit older, and most of the pointy parts on the mold are done with that rubber-plastic stuff anyway. Adding to it; he's movie-line, which seems to be the theme behind half the TF products in stores nowadays anyway and it'll be a nice "gateway" of sorts. Also; the transformation's complex enough to be a challenge, but not something he'll throw away after fifteen minutes of frustration.

Since we're talking about Megatron toys here, I'll go with both the G1 and the Masterpiece Megatrons. The first is mostly about nostalgia, but it's cool in its own right. The Masterpiece takes this and just finishes the coolness off.

I'd have to say that Action Master Megatron is cool too. Cybertron Megatron is cool in his own right, and I really like Classics Megatron, too. Animated Megatron certainly gets a mention from me as well.

Galvatron is a different topic for me :)

G1 Megatron is still my favorite. Leader Animated I guess would be my second choice.

Classics/ Hekei Megs is my Fav. MP is up there too. A little skinny looking but the engineering is astounding. WfC Megatron is much better than I thought it would be. The alt mode isn't much but that 'Bot mode is awesome. Best WfC toy by leaps and bounds.

Though honetly the only Megatron toys I have huge issues with are Armada Megatron and Animated Megatron.
