Can any one tell me where the Deluxe Armada OP nickname Bendy Prime came from?
I've been wondering where this orginated (I know it can't be Articulaton)

It actually was articulation. The first Prime release was the large one that was a brick. This toy was released later and because of all his articulation, the fandom dubbed him "bendy" Prime.

You have to admit... the articulation on that figure is pretty nice... better than any other Armada figure I can think of, and better than many figures from subsequent series as well. The Nemesis version of that Prime was actually the TF that got me back into collecting. :)

I think Unicron technically has better articulation. Hoist comes pretty close.

Thrust had good articulation in Armada, too, the wings obstructed it though...

It's because of when he came out. Release him in Classics and he'd be strictly middle of the road. As an Armada toy, he was something good because of his extra poseability. Also he had Overrun, a really cool Targetmaster type Minicon.

Thing is though, because of the lumps on the top of Bendy Primes upper legs, he really doesnt have much upwards leg movement, infact, Superpants Prime has better legs, except the whole, out to the side, thing.

That's easily fixed though, with a leg swap.

I think in Armada, Unicron might beat Bendy Prime purely on points of articulation... but then, that figure is over a foot tall, and has articulated fingers and spiny wings, so that's almost cheating. :)

Hoist and Thrust are good for Armada, but don't really compare IMHO. Bendy Prime has some great articulation through the shoulders, feet that bend to and fro AND angle, a turn at the waist, a ball jointed head that can look up and down... and the overall design is nice (maybe not everybody's cup of tea for Prime, but a good TF in any case).

Also helping his case is the fact that he has a minicon action feature so incredibly useless, it actually manages NOT to hamper the play value of the toy in any way. :)

I fixed the upper leg obstruction on my Bendy Nemesis simply by shaving off the top of the cylinders on his upper legs. You can still see their shape, but they don't get in the way anymore.

I've never felt the urge to put Prime in a pose that would require any kind of modification

I prefer not to pose a figure one one leg, even when it's possible. It just invites accidental tipping and chipped paint. I can make him look like he's poised to spring forward or backwards with a slight crouching pose just fine (defensive or offinsive), and have no desire to make him squat, kneel, sit, or do the splits.

    Folks:

Bendy Prime is quite poseable for a deluxe, though his limb proportions tend to restrict him or make him look funny in some poses (I am mostly thinking of his forearms here). He does have articulated ankles, which I wish more figures had - it really makes him look more believable when standing with legs at other than vertical position.

The RiD junkies are spoiled, that's all. It's tough to give a vehicle Transformer more articulation at that size than Supercon Optimus Prime has and not end up with a shellformer. I'll take something like Prime over Sideburn every time.

i got the rare nemisis prime version, to bad the arms are soooo loose that in order to see his hands you must act like he is firing at something
