Yes, I went to my local Toy store with a couple of friends, and we found the new line of DOTM Toys. The complete first wave (we'll probably get Wave 2 later this year, and have to forget about wave 3, and so on...), full of Roadbuster, Bumblebees, Sentinel Primes, Megatrons... Everything! The problem still lies within the price tag.

If you guys don't know, or just have never heard of the issue, Transformers are TOO freaking expensive for what they are. Think I'm over exagerating? Okay. Well, in the US, a Deluxe Class figure is, what approx. 10$? Here, it's TWENTY Euros. That's 28 USD for a single Deluxe! This is just ridiculous:
    Deluxes are 28 USD
Voyagers are 48 USD (not joking. Unfortunately)
Leaders are (hold on to your... Whatever you're sitting on) 113 USD.

That's the Price of a TAKARA Leader. I'm telling you guys, importing a Leader figure from the US would actually be CHEAPER to me than to buy a Voyager here. It's just sad... Do you realise I got my Supreme Devastator for less than that, but it's twice the amount of Plastic, too!!

Before the realease of ROTF, all the Deluxes were 13 Euros (which is okay), Leaders were 25 Euros (30 if the store was expensive) and Leaders were about Sixty Euros. After the movie came out, all the prices went up, and they just keep going.

It's been going on for too long, and I just can't keep spending that much money on Transformers... I also strongly doubt Belgium is the only place to have problems like this, I heard about other place in Europe with the same problems... Are the prices high in your area? How high? Feel free to share :p  I'd be interested to know.

France, i believe prices are getting up there. Netherlands and Slovakia too.

Uk and Ireland, have had another price hike...but relatively cheap compared to what you mentioned, and i've alluded to. Aside from which a few of the volume retailers have Wave 1 on discount anyway, Deluxes for 10 euro, Voyagers for 18 euro. Leaders 48 euro. Cv Commanders 6.66ish.

Import Tax on anything with a value of say 35 euro including shipping, plus spiraling costs of that shipping makes it a false economy.

yeah currency conversion is a bitch.

the brits and the Euro huggers(countries using the Euro as currency) were riding high on the hog a few years ago...now not so much.

Well my fellow countryman, welcome to the bright world of distribution rip off in Belgium (and most of the Benelux).
Not that Hasbro is without blame, they give all store reference prices to ask for the toys, and yes they are way way too high:

    Cyberverse Legion Class €5.99
    Cyberverse Commander Assortment €12.99
    Cyberverse Action Set Asst €24.99
    Mech Tech Deluxe Asst €19,95
    Mech Tech Voyager Asst €34,95!
Mech Tech Leader Asst €74,95 !
    Basic Human Alliance Asst €15,99
    Human Alliance €54,95 !!

I admit that i bought 3 DOTM toys in a normal store out of impulse, but now i'm buying what i still want online as this is going insane, even insaner if you take into account the high Euro which should make imported stuff cheap!!!!!

The only thing that helps is not to buy anything in stores here anymore, then they might realise that we don't pay any price for some piece of plastic.

Pure ripp off, and low sales will be the consequence.

Prices in France and Germany are lower, but not alot.

Irish prices, for reference, with discounted prices in brackets.

    Cverse Commanders: 11 euro (6.66 - 8.00)
    Deluxes: 19 euro (10.00 - 12)
    Voyagers: 27 euro (18-20)
    Leaders: 55 euro (43-48)

sucks to hear about your prices. The US usually tends to get good prices when it comes to toys and everybody else get's screwed. I am sure you can find away around the prices.

Great to finally find people who get it!!

Exactly what I did too. And, you know, I have a specialised Action Figure store, which imports NECA and McFarlane Figures straight from the US, and they only cost, like 15 Euros a piece, which is normal, considering they have to import a bunch of boxes. And still make a bit of revenue.

I don't understand why we have to get such prices... I mean, okay, importing them might cost a bit, but not almost triple it's original price! And the worst thing is; I usually think to myself; "Oh I'll boycott these... I bet lots of people are angry with the prices and are just not gonna buy these." But then I see a kid and his mom walking out of the store with a Leader Class Optimus or something...

@Detroa and BW Megatron; which part of Belgium do you live in? I live in the French speaking part, are the prices just as high in the Dutch speaking part?

I'm in the French speaking part too but I have to admit I stopped watching most of retail prices a while ago. Now, I order almost everything online because retail is too expensive and the choice is kind of restricted.

There are a lot of reasons, one of them is "everything is more expensive in Europe", then we have the import costs, taxes and IIRC, I think Hasbro said once they could keep prices low in America because they sell the same products for more in the rest of the World...

    Yeah, Holland's the same.
Prices are insane. I hardly buy any Hasbro products anymore because importing Takara works out around the same price.

Here in Australia things aren't good either. The AUD is worth about 1.05 USD yet we are paying Hasbro stupid high amounts.

    Deluxe $25 AUD
    Voyager $50 AUD
    Leader $90 to $100 AUD

On the bright side tho when retailers get Takara TFs we pay less at the register than what they cost from online retailers. Jetwing Prime is going for about $180 USD online but it will be on sale in major retailers here for $150 AUD.

I live in Flanders but work in Brussels, and as i posted before prices are the same all over, almost every store charges the same due to them hanging on to the saleprices hasbro recommends to them.

And importcosts to europe for a firm are not that much higher in europe then for an american firm. Remember, everything is made in China and put on a boat...

I import about 90% of my stuff and it saves alot of money (well if it is at all available here as i also collect the new GI joe line and some japanese animé scale models, which are not sold in Europe in normal stores)

(little off topic) @ BW megatron: If you like Anime models, and some collector figures, there's a great store in Waterloo called "La cite des nuages" (Cloud city :D  ) which sells tons of scale busts, Hot Toys, and anime figure from playarts and everything. They're really nice, too! They don't sell TFs, though...

Back on topic: Guess I'll have to import, like everyone, then... Such a shame, because I kinda like hunting around in stores, just reaching out to get that ONE figure that's on the back of the peg, comparing paint apps... Just havin' a good time findin' cool figures with friends... It's the little things they take away from you.

(My friend was a complete idiot, he just texted me saying how he went back to the store with all the cash he had been saving up for DOTM and spent it all on the figures -.-")

German prices are about up there, however, keep in mind the following:

    - US prices are generally artificially low thanks to Walmart.

    - European prices already include sales taxes. US prices don't. So those numbers don't directly compare.

True, but with no more than 11% tax (not all states), at most we're paying $49.94 with tax for a Leader. How much are taxes over there if they double (and then some) what we pay??

    I'd say there's no comparison!

I know most importshops and online sellers, i've been collecting for more then 10 years an d have imported stuff from just about every continent.

Cité des Nuages are okay, they have good prices at conventions such as FACTS or MIA.

I also use Archonia.com for import TF stuff, they are a bit slow and they sell out fast for hot items but the prices are okay for most stuff, especially wehn they have a sale.

Hunting is fun, but not at these DOTM prices.I recently finaly found HFTD Terradive and Tomahawk and an additional Battle Blade Bumblebee at a Bart Smit in discount for 9.95 € each, now that is an acceptable price for a deluxe transformer !!! And they are alot cooler then most DOTM deluxes.
