A friend on facebook mentioned a remake, and a google search gave me a few links to some rumblings about a possibility. Anybody heard anything or can point me to a link with more info?

Personally, I'd like to see Samuel L. Jackson as Beetlejuice. "I'm getting tired of these Mother F*cking live people in this Mother F*cking house!!" :lol

I follow quite a few movie news sites and I haven't heard anything about it. If/when there is something more than vague rumor I'm sure it won't be hard to find the info. That being said I really hope they never try to do a remake.

Kevin Smith was once offered the chance to rewrite a script called Beetle juice goes Hawaiian in 1991 or 92. Thankfully that never happened. Smith wrote a draft for Superman lives instead, which Burton would take over and thankfully run into the ground. Had all sorts of weird ideas like a living see through superman costume that shows his internal organs. (Those were Burton's ideas not Smith's) Anyway there are a few old scripts for it out there.

I would hardly put Beetlejuice in the "sacred" category. :lol  It was just a goofy black comedy. I wouldn't be against a remake if given the right cast.

Sam Jackson as Beetlejuse? That would be the movie of the year! All his lines would have to be written by the 5 best comdians......

But lets leave some things alone please.....

Winona Ryder part would have to be.....Olivia Munn ( jizzing, sorry)

I'd actually rather see Lizzy Caplan as Lydia.

Sometimes I wonder if Kevin Smith is serious when he comes up with ideas....

Don't know how I feel about this.

I don't like the idea of a sequel after all this time - it should have happened a long time ago, and now is just too late, IMO.

I kind of like the idea of a re-imagining, but not a remake. Maybe if they did that and used the cartoon as a basis or something....

I adored the cartoon. I honestly loved it more than the movie, even though I loved both.

Lydia was my childhood idol. I've got a Lydia style Halloween costume around here somewhere, complete with a wig that looks exactly like Winona Ryder's hair style in the movie.

Seems quite late for a sequel, if you ask me. I'd much prefer a re-imagining. Unless of course they're aiming for something along the lines of Lydia, all grown up now and living a normal life, suddenly being revisited by Beetlejuice for whatever reason.

Gerard Way and Kaya Scodelario's names once came up during an online fan talk of who should play BJ and Lydia in a reimagining/remake. Kaya is a very solid choice for Lydia, IMO. She looks every bit the part, and can act well. As for Gerard, call the idea and myself fucking nuts if you wish, but part of me actually, honestly thinks he could pull it off.

The cartoon was miles better than the movie. The friendship between BJ and Lydia that it introduced was downright adorable and heartwarming. Any subsequent Beetlejuice film should take some lessons from what it brought to the table.

I agree - I think the Beetlejuice and Lydia friendship angle made the cartoon more fun than the movie. That's one of the main reasons I prefer the cartoon over the movie.

I loved all their adventures in the Neitherworld, and would love seeing a live adaptation that explores more of the Neitherworld, which the movie didn't do.

BJ and Lydia were the best characters to me. I didn't miss Barbara or Adam at all in the cartoon, and any movie remake/re-imagining could lose those characters without any negative consequence.

I would build a re-imagining based on the cartoon.

What? I like seeing what kinds of costumes people put together. One of the reasons I like Transcostumers.
