I haven't seen this cartoon since I was a kid. It's not just nostalgia, I really do like it better than the newer fare. But, I'm not a big fan of CG in cartoons.

    Some things I've noticed:

Megatron needs lay off the eye shadow. No wonder the classics toy got the unibrow treatment.

Bluestreak sounds like Shaggy. He needs a brown Ravage repaint, with a speach impediment.

Prime ocasionally channels John Wayne. I never noticed this, before.

I remembered not likeing Bumblebee much, when I was a kid. He's the same dork I remember.

The Autobots seem to be able to drive to any country, regardless of distance, or bodies of water that might be in the way. Why do they need Skyfire?

Is there an episode where Starscream doesn't claim to be leader, now?

Wheeljack is still my favorite Autobot.

Spike can be kind of whiny, sometimes. Especially when he's yelling for HEEEEEEEEEELLLLLP! Still not as annoying as Kicker.

Brawn is the coolest of all minibots.

Yup, Megsy likes his eyeshadow, it makes him look bad-ass.

I believe that Bluestreak was voiced by the same guy that does Shaggy, and yup, he should have come with a brown Ravage repaint.

Prime channeling John Wayne? I never realised, can you point out any bits?

Bumblebee, Yup, the lack of any offensive weapon, bar his tiny pistol, makes him pretty useless.

The Autobots have always been doing that, though luckily, RiD explained this.

Starscream only exists so Megatron has someone to kick around, just to throw the message 'Don't betray me!' into the troops a bit.

Wheeljack was truly an awesome Bot, but the animators always managed to make his legs look really strange and Gangly.

Spike was a lot easier to bear than Kicker, at least 90% of the episodes dont revolve around him and his ego.

I never liked Brawn, so I was happy when he got gunned down in the movie, my Favourite Mini-bot has to be Warpath, because he can say 'Hey, do you wanna *BANG*, see a movie?' to Arcee, and she doesnt suspect a thing.

Cullen's Prime was influenced by John Wayne.

In RiD, they used space bridges that were set up on earth to travel around the planet quickly. but the G1 autobots didnt have those.

Peter Cullen has stated at Botcon 04 and Cybercon 05 that John Wayne was a childhood hero of his and he always admired and looked up to him.
He can also do a dead on John Wayne impersonation. but you may have guessed that by the way prime speaks sometimes.

G1 Prime sure did have a big 'ol set of hairy nuts hanging off him. And John Wayne is always the first parallel I think of. There was much less whining in G1 and the Decepticons were more than just the comic relief that they seem to portray in the more recent incarnations. I like the CG in the later series, but I always long for the message and the substance that G1 presented. BW came close to capturing much of that feeling, in my opinion. I can still enjoy watching the G1 toons, but I just can't get into anything that has been done in the past several years. As much as the movie characters appear to be altered from what we are accustomed to, if they can retain the attitude and personality of the G1 characters, I think I'll enjoy the movie.

Check out his trash talking on the dam in MTMTE. "You're old, Megatron. Yesterday's model. Ready for the scrap heap. Junk. That's what you are. Junk," or something like that. The inflection in his voice is dead-on John Wayne as he says it.

Prime's John Wayne-ness seems to be most prevalent in MTMTE. It shows up here and there through the rest of the series.

I know Bluestreak was voiced by the same VA as Shaggy. Kasey Kasem, I think. I've also noticed that Ratchet and Thundercracker sound like Scooby Doo villains.

A Scooby Doo Ravage repaint would have been hysterical. :lol

There. Right there is where you run into trouble.

The G1 'toon and thought go together like oil and a burning chinchilla.

As far as Ratchet, I don't know if he's a Scooby-Doo villian or not, but I do know he's Poppa Smurf.

I belive Megatron (Frank Welker) is Fred from Scooby-Doo.

Yep, that's the most apparent John Wayne-sounding Prime blurb. That scene is also one of the best exchanges between Prime and Megatron, I think.

While I do like Beast Wars and Beast Machines more than G1, it's about a hundred billion times better than anything post-R.I.D! The thing that turns me off the most from the post-R.I.D Transformers series is that there is WAY WAY WAY too much focus on the human friends. I mean I remember Armada started out with those obnoxious kids instead of Transformers the way it should have been. That's something I liked about G1, even though there were humans... they didn't get the focus of many stories (sometimes they would share... like when Marissa and Blurr enemies for the transformation cog for Metroplex at the beginning of Season 3)
