New album is coming out soon, the single has dropped and the record has been leaked now for almost a month. I've listened to it and its awesome. All instrumental. Thats right, the Beasties put out an all instrumental record. Not the first time though, they released the instrumental compilation from Check Your Head and Ill Communication, "The In Sound From Way Out", and the instrumental tracks on Hello Nasty are way sick. I'm not sure who's doing keys, as usually Money Mark lays down those tracks and I'd be surprised if it was actually one of the Beasties. But if they're touring for this record I have to see them play. Album is just too funky not to enjoy.

I'll probably need to pick this one up.

I'm still in love with "Sound of Science" 2 cd set... it's my fallback cd when I can't find anything good.

It's a good album. I love their instrumental tracks and this doesn't disappoint. Before listening to it I felt "Aren't they a little old to still be doing their rap shtick?" Not knowing that it was an instrumental cd, I felt like they were finally growing up, in a good way.

Man, if you haven't already, you might be better off trying to get a video of an old performance. I LOVE them, but I've seen them several times over the years since Lollapalooza back in the day, and it's been a pretty steady decline in the quality of their live performances. I still love (some) of the stuff they come out with, they just drag ass on stage.

I loved their last album (5 Boroughs). I have "The In Sound From Way Out" too, but I'm actually not too keen on it.

Something that really annoys me: my local alternative station plays the Beastie Boys (I assume most hip-hop stations don't) but only their old stuff. I've asked them about it but they never responded.

One thing I love about the Beasties is that I've heard their music on a Top 40 station (Girls, and okay, it was 80s night, but whatever), a rap/hip-hop station (Brass Monkey), a classic/hard rock station (lots of stuff from License to Ill, Check Your Head, and Ill Communication), an alternative rock station (lots of stuff), and the college station (pretty much all of Paul's Boutique at one point or another). I'm not aware of many other bands that's true of, if any at all.
