OK, so I am about halfway through watching Beast Wars for the very first time in my life. Considering I am in my 30's, that may be considered blasphemy to some. You are probably right. Especially seeing as how fudging awesome the show is. Maybe the best TF series of all time IMO.

So on to the point - I love the BW characters so much that I am now looking to pick up the figures, but I only want the ones who actually appeared in the show and of those, I want the most screen-accurate versions possible.

So from the list below, which version of each should I get in order to have the most show-accurate plastic representations of them?

p.s. I may have left some of the characters off who appear after the midway point in season 2. For the sake of spoilers, please don't mention them if you can help it. I'm sure these will be enough to keep me occupied. Thanks! :thumb

    Maximals:

    Optimus Primal
    Transmetal Optimus Primal
    Cheetor
    Transmetal Cheetor
    Dinobot
    Rhinox
    Rattrap
    Transmetal Rattrap
    Tigatron
    Airrazor
    Silverbolt

    Predacons:

    Megatron
    Transmetal Megatron
    Waspinator
    Scorponok
    Tarantulas
    Transmetal Tarantulas
    Terrorsaur
    Blackarachnia
    Inferno
    Quickstrike

Any other info about the toys you can throw in there is GREATLY appreciated. I have checked the reference section of TFW and the pics are not that helpful, especially as they mainly focus on the character and not the actual specifics of the toy (or indeed the packaging).

    My suggestions:

    Maximals:

    Telemocha deluxe-size Optimus Primal
    Mega Transmetal Optimus Primal
    Telemocha Cheetor
    Deluxe Transmetal Cheetor
    Henkie (Japanese Classics/Universe) Dinobot
    Telemocha Rhinox
    Basic Japanese Rattrap
Deluxe Hasbro BWX anniv. Transmetal Rattrap
    Telemocha Tigatron
    Basic Airrazor
    Deluxe Silverbolt

    Predacons:

    Telemocha DX Ultra Megatron
    Mega Japanese Transmetal Megatron
    Telemocha Waspinator
    Mega Scorponok
    Hasbro BWX anniv. Tarantulas
    Deluxe Japanese Transmetal Tarantulas
    Basic Japanese Terrorsaur
    Telemocha Blackarachnia
    Mega Inferno
    Basic Japanese Quickstrike

Most characters only have one or two toys of them. I specified Japanese and Telemocha when they are more accuarte (to my knowledge).

    Ebay:
    1st Gen Primal/Megatron- I'd say get the 10th Anniversary Hasbro 2 pack.
They look good or you could spring for the Takara versions. Smaller but they are even more show accurate.

Transmetal Primal/ Megatron- Hasbro or Takara, doesn't matter for Primal. Megatron, i'd jump on the Takara version because the Hasbro version has problems with snapping in half.
Megatron is more purple then Brown but it works

Cheetor, Rhinox Waspinator Tarantulas- Just get the 10th Anniversary versions.

TM Cheetor and Rattrap- Doesn't matter, Takara or Hasbro. However, i'd jump on the 10th anniversary Rattrap because it doesn't seem to suffer from the paint flaking the original ones do.

Dinobot- Go Henkei all the way
    [IMG]
    Very show accurate

Rattrap, Tigatron, airrazor, Scorponok, Silverbolt, Terrorsaur, Blackarachnia, Inferno and Quickstrike- You have to buy the originals and i'm not sure about any HUGE differences between the American the Japanese versions.

TM Tarantulas- Takara for sure. Hasbro's Tarantulas has eyes while Takara attempted to make it look like a visor.
I don't have any close up photos of Tarantulas but you can see what I mean here.

hope that helps, if you need more pics, let me know

Good freaking luck on that Japanese Terrorsaur. He's impossible to find, and costs as much as Metals Ravage. Just learn some basic customization--use rubbing alchohol on his green spots, paint the beak yellow, paint the purple parts metallic red. The good news is that none of the purple spots rub on anything else-- unless you go crazy with it, the paint will never rub off! I'm a beast wars show accuracy freak like yourself (you should see my Transmetal tarantulas-- I painted the robot claws yellow, puttied over the two eyes to make one, and fixed his "hairline"-- looks like he walked right off the screen!), so you know I'm giving it to you straight.

Super advanced tip: Transmetal Waspinator has a MUCH more show-accurate head...if you're willing to paint it....

Terrorsaur had green spots on the show, FWIW.

I second SPLIT LIP's list, with a few additions

If you wanna get crazy though, you could give the DX Megatron the remoulded head from the 10th anniversary figure making him look like this:

If you're willing to paint, the Robot Heroes Rattrap makes a world of difference.

Actually bright green in Beast mode, but turned dark green in robot mode. (like how his skin is bright red in beats mode, dark, shiney red in robot mode)

I wouldn't, because that ugly-ass head is anything but accurate. The face and eyes are too wide, the colour is off, and the helmet is squatter. (though the eyes and face could just be making it seem like that) Pull the bat-wings off the original and sculpt-wise it's almost dead-on to the show. The DX, even more-accuarte repaint uses that head, instead of the not-so-accurate new head.

Also I totally forgot about Japanese Rattrap/Quickstrike and Hasbro BWX Rattrap. Good call.

I sold mine for $125, and the box was in terrible shape. I mean good luck to you and all, but you're probably not finding or affording this one.

Not trying to hijack the thread but how much does the Takara Transmetal Megatron go for?

Just to chime in on Terrorsaur...the Hasbro version (less show accurate) will run you about $15 and you can find them all day long...you'll just need to repaint his blue arms, legs and head to silver...

But the JBW Terrorsaur is the show accurate one and the one you'd want...getting him for $50 is a good price...the hard part is just FINDING him to buy...it took me about six months to get mine once I really started aiming for him...paid about $40 shipped on ebay...

And just a tip...if you get the JBW X9 Ravage (which is a must imo)...be careful with the doors on his chest...the hinges break easy...

Japanese basic Rattrap is really hard to find, at least it was for me anyway. I was lucky and got mine for $40 MIB, but I have seen some go for $100 + in the same condition.

I will also echo what others have said, get the Takara Metals Megatron (Transmetal). The Hasbro one has not aged well and is extremely prone to breakage.

I got mine from a board member MIB about two years ago for $35 + shipping. I have no idea if it has gone up since then.

Good job I already know Ravage appears later on in the season!

Just wanted to say thanks for all the replies! You guys are the nuts.

Now all I gotta do is set aside some serious coin and get hunting. Lord only knows where to find all of them as eBay seems to have a worrying lack, even when going through international sites.
