Hello al, I've had this question in mind for a lot of years by now. Why is it that every Beast Wars toy has two faces? For example: the Cheetor toy had its normal robot-mode face, but if you turned it around it had a different face.
Does anyone know why this is so my question can finally be answere:)

I could be wrong, but I think that at least some of them were meant to be battle-mode heads.

interesting idea, but then I question myself why they weren't shown in the television show and why they all looked so different from the faces, because with cheetor it was a red head if I'm not mistaken

The second head is supposed to be a "mutant head". It was a linewide gimmick (kind of like Mech Alive is for ROTF) that was planned for the toyline before the show premiered. When the show aired, the characters obviously had only one head, so the mutant head gimmick was dropped soon after.

I thought it was supposed to be some sort of mutant head gimmick.

I think the mutant heads were originally conceived as some kind of berzerker mode battle masks, but when they couldn't pull it off on the show budget, they eventually dropped them from the toys.

Now you mention it, they look like mutantheads indeed. Thanks for solving my 8-year old question:)

Also, in the show I believe Waspinator and Tarantulas used their mutant heads for their robot forms.

    Yep!

In the Beast wars DVDs (for season 2 I think) they showed some concept CGI work with the Mutant heads being sed. I can't remember if it was ALL the characters or not but I definitely rememberDinobot and Megatron. I realize it wa only rough CGI but it looked REALLY bad so I'm glad the concept was axed.

    YUP.

When you flip down the head on Blackarachnia it looks like a re-paint of Tarantulas's head and vice-versa.

His in-show head was the mutant head. Blackarachnia used the "normal" head

All first wave Beast Wars Deluxes, Megas and Ultras had battle mode heads. Some of the second wave Deluxes also had them. As stated, the idea was that the characters would have had "battle masks" to protect their faces in battle. The TV Series didn't use them because it was either too hard to work into the story, or because the cost of making the extra CGI models was prohibitive. I believe it may well have been to do with the cost - the battle mode heads would have needed entire new robot mode CGIs, not just new head CGIs on the bodies.

Same reason, incidentally, is why the basic Cheetor design was repurposed for Tigatron rather than using Wolfang or another character IIRC.
