Hi everyone, I am planning on buying Beast Wars deluxe retrax because he is one of my favorite off-screen characters from beast wars and I was just wondering if anyone had any feedback on the figure:D

As a pill big he is great. As a robot, meh. His arms are really limited due to transformation and his rolling up feature. He can either be welcoming you into his arm or give you a bear hug. That is about it. But the bug form is really good.

It's uh...pretty bad actually. Had it a while back. The beast mode is ok, but his robot mode is just lame. His rolling up gimmick really messed with him, his arms are terrible.

I liked Scarem, but mine broke.

Retrax is cool because he's bad. Bear-hug TFs + rolly-polly bugs = lol

i have both the japanese and the american version, i must say, if you can get the japanese one it is FAR better looking in those colors.

i agree the gimmic is lame, and kind'a annoying though, once it becomes really loose, how ever my japanese one, is actually quite tight. and i don't remember my american one being ever that tight, even when i bought it new 15 years ago.

it's levers were always hair triggers.

but not the japanese one, which is probably cheaper too, :)

Since no one has commented on him, I'll add something about Powerpinch. He's okay. Powerpinch was a later-release BW basic and thus is more creative than earlier spring-loaded changers like Insecticon (although I don't have issues with such figures, when done correctly). He has a sort of attack mode in his beast mode, where his abdomen folds forward like a scorpion's stinger. Transformation isn't THAT complex, but it gets the job done. And robot mode is... alright. Don't own him anymore so my memory isn't perfect.

I cannot stress this enough - Scarem is awesome. He's an insectoid that does Vangelus proud, or ought to. Enormous mandible weapons, beautiful and highly detailed beast mode, and creepy, menacing, asymmetrical robot mode with high amounts of posability make him a winner. He trumps Retrax in every possible way, except for the cute and quirky factor.

Retrax was one of my all-time favorite Beast Wars toys, and between me and my brother, we owned them all (except Tigatron, Buzzsaw, and TMII Blackarachnia).
I loved the detailing in the beast mode, as well as the gimmick, and though the robot mode is lacking in poseability, I still thought it looked cool and especially liked the headsculpt.

    Japanese Powerhug is better.

    And Scarem is just awesome.
